There's been a crazy number of threads recently looking for restaurant recommendations, so I'd like to start a specific thread for it. Please post below about your favourite restaurants - why you like them, what price range they are, what type of food they serve, if they have an early bird, opening hours if you know them, where they're located. If you could include a link to the website, that would be great. The more details, the better. This is not a thread to post negative reviews - there's a thread in the main Food & Drink forum for that if you like. Basically, I want this thread to be full of recommendations, not positive and negative reviews. That being said, you can disagree with a recommendation briefly if you really feel the need to, but you must have a really valid reason such as an awful experience, rather than "I don't really like the food" or "It's too expensive".

Evening time we struggled to find space anywhere. Scoozi had loads of seats though. It was ok, looks like it hasn’t changed in decades although it could do with it.

This morning we had brunch in Crawford & Co. Very good. I had a baked egg and leek broth with sriracha mayonnaise and toast. Love a bit of spice for breakfast.

Haha was in Crawford and Co myself today and it was so nice! We had the bottomless brunch - got the mushrooms with poached eggs and a red pepper sauce and toast and small green salad on the side - delicious!

The mimosas kept coming and they didn’t skimp on the alcohol! I was quite tipsy leaving! Great value, will be back!

Was in the Bosun last week.
My elderly mum likes it - particularly the breaded brie starter which she has as a main.
Now, it's not really terrible but it's way overpriced for what it is. It's pretty much carvery standard at restaurant prices.
Everything is either deep fried or reheated in the microwave. Meals came out about 5 minutes after we ordered.
I had (allegedly) grilled supreme of chicken. Chicken was OK - not all dried up but not really tasty either. Onion gravy was boiled onions in Bisto. Mash was fine. Chips were flaccid and greasy. Veg was fine - again, not very tasty.
That dish was €17. I think that's pretty outrageous for reheated food in a pub at lunchtime. Reckon the menu hasn't changed in 20 years.
Somewhere like Blackrock Castle would be cheaper and way, way nicer.

Staff were lovely, though.

I've been to that guy once (about 2 months ago) and just had chips. They were nice and tasty but I can't say I'd rate them over any other chipper.

Not a fish fan but I can't imagine there is anything better than fish as fresh as his!

Was it catch of the day? As we were Sunday at the spot, and two vans were there with fish and chips. Was excellent, would definitely recommend.

Literally just there an hour ago- the best fish and chips we all had for ages! No word of a lie.

Paddy the farmers serve really nice food and the staff are really nice aswell. Always enjoy going to that pub.

Also the food in the wood Ford is really good aswell. Their portions are really big.

Was in a hotel bar/restaurant recently with my family. 2 of us ordered steaks. Almost €30. As well as starters. I asked for mash instead of chips. No problem sir. That will be €5 extra. I thought he misunderstood so I said no I don’t want both just some mash instead. €5.

I asked to speak to a manager. After 5 mins the manager came and was horrible. Patronising and kept repeating “sorry you feel that way”. We left leaving a €200 or so potential meal and went somewhere else.

Would people think this is as horrendous as I did?

I have never had a good experience in any hotel restaurant.

Overpriced, bad food and poor service.

I bet they didn't see that coming. Businesses get away with that kind of carry on because they think people would be too embarrassed to call them out on it.

Strasbourg Goose last evening. Herself had fish n' chips...lovely, I had fillet steak...average...chicken liver paté was great and the cheesecake too. Server was nice and friendly. Just a wee bit disappointed with the fillet steak,a wee bit tough, had to get chips as well as they were mean with the roast spuds, pepper sauce was bland... 3 beers 3 wines 2 starters 2 mains one dessert all in €90, pretty good value, but just an OK experience...server made the experience better, she was good craic.

I was charged €5 something for a glass of milk in Bombay Palace Indian in Cork. My glass of milk was dearer than my friends beer.

I was also in Strasbourg Goose also on Saturday night 4 of us. We had a really nice waitress, my party enjoyed their food and it was reasonable value but I do not think I would go again. Food for me was only just ok, chicken salad (felt like the chicken was just chicken from a packet) and a burger only ok.

Went to Bar Pigalle for a bite to eat last Saturday night and we were glad we finally did. It was busy enough when we arrived at 8ish and we didn't have a reservation but we got seats in a nice spot at the end of the bar. Not too much later they were turning people away. Tried a selection of the small plates and one main. Small plates were goats cheese/ beetroot salad, monkfish, rice cakes (arancini) with a really good tamarind sauce, crispy chicken with ? Pineapple kimchi, and langoustines on brioche. All were really tasty and individual. Got main dish of hake with turmeric coconut sauce which was perfectly cooked and very good too. Wanted to try the duck pancakes but they weren't on the menu so will have to go back! Good wine by the glass selection too. Total for all that food which was more than enough to fill 2 hungry people and 4 drinks was about 90e, which seemed pretty good value to me for how good it was. Friendly service. All in all definitely recommended.

None of the above ..Elm Tree is the nicest spot in the area
