Guess you have price a new gaming laptop 800~1200 then work back a couple of years. 600 ish maybe.
I think given current market prices you'd probably be looking at around 400-450 at best.

    I've an Alienware laptop with a 6700HQ and GTX980 with 16GB DDR4 and a 4K screen and I couldn't get any offers over 550.

You could get a new laptop that would be faster than your spec for about €750.
Thanks a mil. Those are inline with what I was thinking. I'll see how things go.

Got a new desktop PC just before Xmas & I am now looking to sell my Alienware laptop.

Would anyone know how much I could realistically get for it? (on Adverts or whatever)

    Alienware 18

    Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 @ 5GHz + Bluetooth 4.0

    Dual AMD Radeon(TM) R9 M290X graphics with 8GB total (2x 4GB ) GDDR5 - AMD CrossFire(TM) Enabled

    256GB mSATA SSD Boot + 1TB 5400RPM SATA 6Gb/s

    16GB Dual Channel DDR3L 1600MH z (4x4GB)

    18.4 inch (467.36mm) WLED FHD (1920 X 1080) TrueLife Display

    4th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4 710MQ processor (6MB Cache, up to 3.5GHz w/ Turbo Boost)

Only thing wrong with it is battery only holds a charge for about 20-30 mins before you'd need to plug in charger.

GPU: Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 gaming edition
    PSU: Corsair CS 750M

    2 x 120GB SSD (hyperX)

There are a few things in that that won't add much value to the overall price.

I would strip out most of the RAM, one 2TB HDD, 250GB SSD and a 120GB SSD, and sell it with a single 120GB + 2TB. Leave it at either 8GB or 16GB ram at best.

I would also probably take out the CPU cooler and re-use it, replace it with stock cooler.

Not necessarily to re-use, but you can sell all those parts seperately for a nice bit of extra cash.

The different in achievable price between as it is now, and with all that stuff removed, wouldn't be that big, people focus on the core components and other stuff tends to matter little to them, and they value it that way too.

With all said parts removed, I would say you should get around 500 for it. Probably another 200 for the parts I mentioned.

Obviously with a 4th gen i7 and the 290x cards you can't compete with newer machines but I reckon that has to be worth €600 anyway if not more.

I sold this a few months back

Just put together another PC with some bits I had laying around, hoping for a quick sale because I just want these components gone as there taking up valuable space so hoping to get a a recommended price to post it at to grab people's attention:

    AMD Phenom II x4 905e @ 2.5GHz
    8GB DDR3 @ 1333MHz (4x2GB)
    1GB Radeon HD 5770
    Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 AM3+ Mobo
    500GB Hard Drive

I know it won't be worth much but I'd be happy to get anything for it really.

So I'm upgrading sons pc and have the following for sale but no idea how to pitch it, any pointers appreciated.

    1. Zalman z11 full sized case with accompanying fans, 2 large and 3 small i think.

2 asus z170 pro gaming itx board,

3 intel i3 6100, using an i5 6500 cooler and fan, or if better sell it with i5 instead. (might use the i5 elsewhere)

    4 corsair cx 550w psu

5 rx 460 gpu, not sure on full details.

In good cosmetic condition, can deliver in mayo for free if that helps (it a big case so delivery is picey i'm guessing)

    Thanks in advance.

    Ok - unusual one...

Sun Workstation Ultra 25, AMD Opteron Single Core 148 (link)

all original I believe - except no hdd.

Originally ran a specialised OS - but it tried Windows 7 and it worked.

Only asking because I really like the all aluminium case and its in great nick - and Im hoping it something not collectable so I dont feel guilty putting a modern pc in the case...
