The Restaurant Recommendation Thread

There's been a crazy number of threads recently looking for restaurant recommendations, so I'd like to start a specific thread for it. Please post below about your favourite restaurants - why you like them, what price range they are, what type of food they serve, if they have an early bird, opening hours if you know them, where they're located. If you could include a link to the website, that would be great. The more details, the better. This is not a thread to post negative reviews - there's a thread in the main Food & Drink forum for that if you like. Basically, I want this thread to be full of recommendations, not positive and negative reviews. That being said, you can disagree with a recommendation briefly if you really feel the need to, but you must have a really valid reason such as an awful experience, rather than "I don't really like the food" or "It's too expensive".

Glad to hear it, my sister sent me a Facebook pic of the damaged glass and said it was vandalised. Took her word for it!

Had really good soup noodles in Soba, Carey's Lane again last night.
Beef stew noodle soup and
Preserved cabbage and shredded duck with rice noodles.
Beef tendon noodle soup wasn't on last night.

Just a heads up, first table has started in Cork (pay €6 get 50% off bill for the first early bird table of the day excl drinks for 2 to 4 people).

We used it to eat at gourmet burger bistro, I don't normally eat at the fancy burger places so I can't compare to the others but I really enjoyed my lamb burger.

If you're thinking of freestyle on North Main street, then it's open again under a different name.

But that should make you think twice...

It's the only Chinese buffet in the city that I know of. Maybe some other posters could help you?

My personal favourite for Chinese food in the city is YMY on prince's Street. Not cheap though, and not a buffet.

Nope. Not so much a thing here.
Probably better off with the many Asian Street food places like Ramen etc.

You should be able to get a decent meal for €10 to €15.

Thanks for this, used it for Greene's. 50 euro off the bill. Greene's is lovely, we had a great table by the waterfall, food was stunning.

On those days you should be able to avail of offers before a certain time.

I'm not sure if ramen offer the 6 before 6 deal in house?

Asain bites or something like that on Paul Street (by the back of waterstones) has a smallish buffet that looks good.

Surprised this wasn't responded to tbh - that's a bit of disgrace given you'd booked in advance. Restaurant 101 is you cover your bookings surely!

I like White Rabbit but that's poor management.

Finally ate in Tequila Jacks at the weekend, had tacos and thought it was really tasty, loved the salsa and rice plus I had a non alcoholic Bandita which was lovely given there was a bit of dead heat around. Will go back and try more on the menu soon hopefully.

Family meaning with kids? Market Lane if so. Menu for children is the best in the city according to my lot and they have activity sheets for them. Book it though.

Brunch, not 100% sure for a bank holiday which of these are open. Ali’s kitchen is my fav but you are spoilt for choice. The weir rooms in the river lee hotel are gorgeous for brunch, overlooking the river and will defo be open. Liberty grill is a popular spot, prepare to queue. The bookshelf is very nice. Good day deli in nano nagle gardens is a stunning location with good food too.

BH weekend means a lot of the regular spots could be closed. I’d definitely ring ahead to make a place is open.

Heading to see Blood Brothers next Saturday night. Looking for somewhere to eat near opera house. 4 adults , only places that spring to mind are Amicus and Luigi Malones? Any other suggestions around this area please? Thanks

Koto is nice. Also have Bunsen and Coq Bull nearby too.

Very sorry to see El Vino East Village Douglas is gone, sign up saying something like closed for the seeable future. Apparently they opened in Killarney too, not sure if that had any bearing on the Douglas closure.

Possibly the best fish & chips I've had, ate there a few times and it's always fantastic.

Lab82 is beautiful for brunch, service was a little slow but coffee is fab & brownies are unreal.

Lunchtime yesterday we got out of the rain at the first place we came to - Nosta. Really good Turkish food.

Evening time we struggled to find space anywhere. Scoozi had loads of seats though. It was ok, looks like it hasn’t changed in decades although it could do with it.

This morning we had brunch in Crawford & Co. Very good. I had a baked egg and leek broth with sriracha mayonnaise and toast. Love a bit of spice for breakfast.
