In every match you expect defenders to play on the border or beyond on defenders. Every defender with every County dose it. Refs cannot watch it all. However you expect refs, and linesmen to deal with what they see in front of them and if there is continuous treatment of certain players you expect them to use there umpires as well.
The refs in both games were brutal on Sunday. In the first Match the ref was slow to pull for steps and Mayo made hay with that. As well Mayo players tended to block the run of Meath players. Everybody looks for it in attack The mayo players did it to block a defenders movement after they laid off the ball.

In the Kerry match the ref and his officials failed to deal with any of this. He failed to deal with Sean O Shea's treatment right in front of him. It more puzzling in that in other matches over the last few weeks refs were really on top of it and gave frees 20-30 meters ahead of play

One of the linesmen was Joe McQuillan so no more needs to be said.

That’s good news for him- whether he should be anywhere near the panel is another question.

I have serious doubts about his ability and the fact that he let the team down temperament wise on his debut is an even bigger concern!

It's not a question though. The management put him on the panel and they feel he's obviously training well enough to play.

It often a bigger jump up than you think. I have often seen lads that look great in Junior games be useless when put on a senior club team

He prob cost us the win the last day by raising his hands to a lad- I'd sit him back down

You cannot blame any single event for the draw instead of win, you could just as easy blame Adrian Spillane getting sat on his ass by Murphy even though maybe he should have been replaced earlier but we had no other replacement mid fielder, you could blame the way Paul Geany went in on the tackle again that would usually be the replacement mid fielder covering that area. you could blame the points Cliffors missed at the start of the game or the free or two O'Shea missed. If young lads learn from thing like this they will not make those mistakes next year. TOS card was recinded so it may have been an overreaction by the ref more than a mistake by him. If he learns from it he be the better player for it

I say it near enough the team. Only changes will be tactical to rest or save players. He may let Moran sit it out if he is not 100% or take him off early. Wite will play wing back, Enright will go center and Crowley will play in front of the defence.. Keane is playing a kind of advanced sweeper game with the extra defender supporting midfield. Killian Spillane earned his second chance and a good game tomorrow will get him the last place in the forwards.

Barry Mahony from Crotta and O Sullivan from Kilgarvan look like serious inter county prospects.

Was talking to a fella at the game yesterday about this incident. He said the Legion number 9 was the Stacks manager previously and the stacks man on the receiving end is Ronan Shanahan. Can anyone shed any light on it. A fairly ferocious incident and only a 4 game ban for it.

Pretty sure it was Shaun Keane for legion and Barry Shanahan got hit for Stacks. Lost a few teeth and broken jaw from what I heard.
