So according to Trump, in his speech delivered in front of the great memorial to his predecessor the first Republican president and visionary, American revolutionary forces successfully manned the ramparts and "TOOK OVER THE AIRPORTS" ("and all the other things they had to do") while defeating the army of Cornwallis at Yorktown. In 1781.

Really and truly, the english language has exhausted its superlatives. We need some sort of hieroglyphs or ogham tablet to properly do justice to the retardation level of this man.

I have two dominant feelings: First, that his staff are now simply fückín with him and its pretty hilarious.

Or, that they aren't, and this is the best 330 Million Americans could send forward to represent them. And that its not hilarious at all. In fact it turns my blood to ice thinking of my best mate's new baby daughter of 17 days, in their New Jersey home and what she is facing into.

I can understand the anger people feel about some Trump supporters and what they stand for, but i was never comfortable with people covering their faces and attending protests. It takes only a few to act up to drag the whole thing down.

Call me a hippie if you like, but peaceful protests are the way to go. I don't advocate violence at all. In fact, i don't even support Gaetz (who i believe is a ***** ****) getting hit with a milkshake!

Fair enough you answered my question, I will indulge yours, even though I don't know where you're going with this. I want to state that I'm not a Trump supporter..

naw.... aligning means what exactly? He is seen with sure... but its not like he's endorsing Kim's politics.

Tough one.. there is unprecedented levels of immigration. There doesn't seem to be many reasonable answers. This problem stems way back before Trump.

Freedom of expression is especially important for those you disagree with.

Antifa run on an anti-facist agenda, it attracts some clowns who overdo it or behave poorly.

Well holey moley, there's a triumph, he didn't mess up. And I don't think the article intended to damn with faint praise, it was apparently a genuine effort to make the best of it.

I'm not sure how the 'But...nevertheless' works there, do the two sentences belong together? I do know that the presentation was completely overshadowed by his usual smug, stilted, simpering, self-conscious style, so I skipped lots of it. The bits I did hear did not justify Collinson's reference to the 'I have a dream' speech; was he trying to positively or negatively imply calibre by association?

Trump-justifying rot like this is rampant now in "reputable" media.

That's exactly what Trump's ongoing, years-long campaign of intimidation and vilification of the media has been designed to achieve - framing things through his language and his fascist worldview - the "oh, but he's got a point" bull**** we consistently hear now.

CNN and the New York Times in particular have disgraced themselves of late with this sort of stuff.

It's an insult to journalism.

Ridiculous equivocation to try and downplay the Proud Boys as merely being 'chauvanistic', as if they're a pesky Golf Club refusing to join the modern day. Or indeed the suggestion of a few bad eggs, as if the whole is otherwise decent and well-meaning. They're off-brand White Nationalist Fascists, who, like many on the "alt right" have tried to dress up their cause in the (sometimes literal) clothes of respectability, taking cues from the likes of Richard Spencer, who are desperately trying to move the White Nationalist movement away from the image of red-neck hicks swaddled in Confederate flags. OF course by enforcing the black polo shirt look, they invite further fascistic comparisons with the brown-shirts.

Fascism tends to emphasise the glory of uniformity, violence and death, it's kinda baked into the mentality of making people believe themselves warriors, or in the case of alt-right like the Proud Boys, bulwarks against communism, islam, feminism, or whatever it is these blackshirts believe ails society. The PB are all about intimidation and violence, calling them a 'protest' group is euphemistic group at best. They're thugs in Fred Perry shirts.

That's not what I was doing and I resent the insinuation. I was highlighting the hypocrisy of the previous poster DOWNPLAYING ANTIFA. Honestly that is a completely misrepresentation of what I was doing. Anyone with any intelligence or sense could see that.

It was a parade.
With fireworks, some flyovers . No trouble or violence reported, by all accounts an enjoyable day out.
The crowd was very large stretching from the Lincoln Memorial to the Washington monument.
Lots of America flags proudly on display (lets remember there were NO AMERICAN FLAGS worn by any Democratic candidates during the recent live debates.
And even some on the left gave Trump credit for having a fairly innocous speech and not diverting to a pure 2020 election campaign rally as many on the left expected.

So yeah a good HOLIDAY for all Americans who support their President to enjoy .

Meanwhile back to work for the Trump administration, the
June jobs numbers are out with 224,000 jobs added beating expectations and wage growth still above the 3% mark.

I saw this chart, thought it was interesting if 2020 goes teh way its looking .
