Ok see this trailer of a new series about Batwoman.

Ok Batwoman, that's cool. I can get in to that.

But I have a feeling if you reversed the roles here it would not go unremarked on :pac:

Let's say Batwoman ran away to leave Gotham fend for itself.

And then Batman found Batwoman's cave and decided "I need you to fix her suit" to which a female butler replies "but it's perfection" and Batman says "It will be when it fits a MAN!"

And at the end Batman says "I'm not about to let a woman take credit for a man's work"

To blaring background music - "I'm a MANNNNN!!!"

Not all men are bad. We do have our uses. Also the ironing of that line about not taking credit for a woman's work is delicious

What is Catwoman going to think of this? There was always a bit of sexual tension between her and Batman.
Now she's going to have to discover her inner lesbian.

:D Guilty as charged. Joke is one of the biggest reasons I can't abide current "feminism" and a few other isms with it is that it paints women as perpetual victims and wants society and men to treat them as hair trigger neurotics who will get an attack of the vapours at the merest perceived slight. How society was expected to treat women in victorian times is not so far removed from what current feminists would want women be treated, with extra get out of gaol free cards. Nothing like the women I know and have known.

I like Doom Patrol myself. Wonderfully daft

interesting and inventive and head and shoulders above similar I've seen in the oul comic book genre on telly.

The whole superhero in capes stuff leaves me cold TBH and I haven't read a comic since I was about 15. Even as a kid I wasn't so into the whole marvel/DC thing. Was more a Judge Dredd guy myself.

The trend to push strong women front and centre is all too often handled poorly and I'm not going to judge BatWoman on a trailer but look at the "rage" it's generated already?
My own 1st reaction was FFS here we go again with hitting stereotype and buttons solely for political correctness sake...
But I hope I'm wrong and it's just a viral promo strategy.

Purely coincidentally I rewatched the 1st Episode of the 2003 BSG mini-series last night and IMO it segues well into this latest bit of faux outrage.
I think BSG is a great model for anyone trying to frame strong female writing into a traditional male paradigm.
From the recasting of Starbuck and the anger over it at the time to the character really becoming integral and inseperable from the story.
The relationships between Adams and Roslin and how she exercised executive power and even thru to the "greatest" warrior being a woman Admiral Cain.

The whole female cast across the series, written as people rather than gender even when pursuing reproduction should be an object lesson in diversity and character development.

The current trend to write characters that are seen as triggers or provocation solely for provocations sake is to my mind lazy and lacks any real insight.

Nope, she's with Batman. This ones name is Kate, and I'd imagine it's based on 2006's Kate Kane, but that Kate is not related to Batman, she's just rich and inspired by him.

Barbara would have been a better main cast and wouldn't have felt out of place. Like others have said the DJ turned 'actress' cannot act. She was meh in OitnB, terrible in Pitch Perfect 3 (although, that entire film is terrible) and can't remember her in John Wick at all, so obviously not memorable.

I'm guessing you haven't watched any of the other CW works part of Berlanti's Arrowverse?

Willing to give it a pass till it grows legs like the other shows (which were hit and miss)

Do feel this one is always gonna be a bit of a tightrope especially when they got criticized about casting someone who wasn't gay enough for the role. The SJW's have the pitch forks at the ready for this one so I reckon there will be a bit of overcompensation as a result

Didn't get overly outraged here but I am having a lazy Saturday so didn't really want to bother.

Since batman was always a guy and catwoman was always the srong female in that series I didn't mind them playing up to it being a woman. If she had said it will be perfect when it fits me, that would have been better. I'd have managed the mental leap inside my head that it needed to fit a woman.
