But you are entitled to still think weed is a money making commodity.

I can tell you on the road where I live theres two houses selling weed and theres cars and people coming in an out all day. Yeah there's big money to be made from coke at certain times of the week. Very few people are sitting around doing a few sniffs at this hour of the day but theres plenty smoking joints. I'm not saying coke isn't big its just its not an all day every day business like weed. The Quality of the coke is going up though a lot which is no bad thing.

Omackeral wrote: » Just quoting this again. It's amazing you can arrive at this conclusion for me! It's an example. Are you familiar with the concept of giving an example? It doesn't have to be all-encompassing. It's a test subject, for want of a better term. My take on it; Anyone who is willing to work honestly or legitimately study is welcome here in my eyes. They can even practice their own religion and culture and language so long as it doesn't infringe on other people's lives as far as I'm concerned. There's my actual take, not one you apply to me.
MrFresh wrote: » An example usually comes after making a point. When you give an example without making a point I think it's fair to make assumptions as to the point being made. As to your take, how would you test a potential immigrant on their willingness to work or be educated or on their potential to end up in a gang? How would you test their children?

After changing the thread title a number of times (couldn't have the words 'black gangs' in it), they merged it here. 10 years ago we couldn't start talk about Travellers, but now we can. Maybe in another 10 years, we'll be mature enough to accept the reality that there are black gangs in Ireland and it should be discussed, and I am pretty sure that by then, there will be no hiding that fact.

I've known a fair number of people who have destroyed their lives with drugs, we all do. Most of the time it doesn't end well, crash out of college because they can't get out of bed after smoking weed all day and all night. Coke addiction leading to wasting theirs and families money, all the way up to heroin where they spend their lives in a permanent haze, often leading to homelessness, long term addiction and ODs. Fair enough if someone is an occasional user, ie once a month or less. Its those who are addicted or consume it every weekend where the problem lies. America by the way has a massive opioid addiction problem at the moment, that's opioids you can get across the counter with a doctor's prescription. So legalisation of hard drugs isn't always the answer. And the various drug gangs will still operate behind the scenes and with the same threats and shootings if you don't pay up. Dublin and Ireland it seems are a massive consumer of drugs and this is driving the drugs war just as American consumption of coke drives the Mexican drugs war. I'm expecting a reply from someone who says coke and heroin should be legalised and you should be allowed buy it from your local pharmacy or grocery store, as if somehow this is a solution.
