WARNING! Disabling permissions on apps!

Be care full of denying permission to some apps with the likes of LOS Privacy Guard. I disabled permissions in some apps and my device froze up, only a hard reboot would get it going again. Don't change to many permissions at once.

Had to delete a good few apps, but I think the main problem app was.

Aliexpress app, which was randomly asking to write/read external storage, even when the app wasn't running. (At present just hoping it is the culprit.)

Just looking at permissions for that app, would question why you have it on a device in the first place. Coin's games are useless and the reduction in price for using the app is nominal.

Edit: - The permission I change was to always prompt to access storage, obliviously the prompt wasn't appearing and causing the device to freeze up.

This app is a very handy tool, to check for undesirable/questionable apps permissions.
Edit: - The only problem with the app as in comments in the video it does nothing but display the info.

I uninstalled Spark at the weekend. I use Gmail on my desktop, and I got tired of having to wait for spark to "catch up" every time I loaded it.

Back to Gmail for now...

Yes there is!

But the app only lists the permission the apps can look for.

Depending on your rom, most of the permissions can be disabled. But I don't think prevents the apps from randomly trying. Like the annoying Alie.. app.

The simplify chrome extension developed and maintained by the Inbox co-creator has made the desktop experience a whole lot tidier. I'm getting no more adds which is a big bonus.

Add to that that I don't mind the gmail android app and tick tick has replaced my reminder/todo list needs means that I no longer really miss Inbox.

...... I’d recommend downloading the list and then either uninstalling the app or restricting its privileges going forward. You can always reenable it down the line if you need a rogue password, but you’re not giving the app full reign when you don’t need to. .....

Does anyone know if Android Auto in a vehicle lives on the head unit or on the phone? I've a new car on order which has AA (one of the main reasons for picking the make) and I see it's getting a big refresh soon. Will that come from Google or would I have to rely on the car maker for the update (which would never happen)?

I have it in the van. The app is on your phone and gets regular updates from Google. It also uses the GPS on your phone, the head unit will not have any GPS sensors

I know it uses the data/gps/etc from the phone, so would an update to the phone app also update it on the head unit, as this one is a major redesign? Is there any Android Auto software on the head unit in the car/van at all?

It just integrates with the phone, there is no software on the head unit, it's completely on the phone
