I miss his show too. Always tuned in, he had great energy and presented a good show.
I havent really found a replacement at all for that time slot.

I really miss him, always had radio on just to listen to him and the crack was always good, many a long journey I had in car with the radio on listening to him, and the journey felt short, nothing or no one has replaced him for me,
I would dearly love if he were still with us and I do know that I would follow,
He was Simply The Best.

I doubt Gerry would still be on RTE, probably on NT for a 2 hour daily show.

As well as his daughter on 2FM, Gerry's brother Mike (formerly 2FM late 80s/90s) works in RTE radio in continuity/broadcast services and presents the "Best of Radio 1" at 2am some weeknights. He sounds very similar to Gerry.

Enjoyed listening to him through much of the 90's. His death due to drugs showed how much of a hypocrite he actually was. He described drug dealers as scum ( which I agree with btw) yet unless the drugs he used magically appeared where did he get them?

I wasnt a fan of his later work but his night time RTE radio 2 show in the 80s straight after Dave Fanning helped me through secondary school and developed an appreciation for many bands I still listen to. I really liked that show.

Yes I miss Gerry. I liked his radio presenting style. I didn't always agree with what he said and wouldn't have liked his lifestyle choices but then who am I to judge.

I liked his old radio shows back in the 90's and 80's.
Im from the Midwest and he had a good section on his morning show where he was was talking to a lady from Shannon about how the region was doing.
He'd check in with her just to see how life was and how the Shannon region was doing, ranging from tourism and employment.

He used to stay in Dromoland Castle a lot, met him a few times he seemed to love Clare and Ennis was a frequent place where himself and his family would stool around on a Saturday morning.
They would take a drive up the coast eating in the best restaurants, enjoying the fresh air and get away from the City life.

I always find his anniversary to be a most peculiar day. I remember hearing the news in the afternoon and just being absolutely shocked to the core. I still miss his programme and don't think that RTE has come in any way close to replacing him.

Yes. Used to listen in almost every day. He was mostly good fun, only the odd time a bit over the top.
Haven't tuned in to 2fm for years.
