Homosexuality was regarded as a mental illness until relatively recently also.

I think it does a huge disservice to those who suffer from mental health issues to lazily throw the “mental health” label at those whose views you find intolerable.

I don't think she has mental illness. I think she's found a niche to play to the fears some people have and she is just a **** stirrer who is putting very dangerous points of view with little to no evidence to back up what she is saying. She claimed the state had a part to play in the death of Veronica guerin. She was then asked to provide proof and she couldn't. I wonder how Ms Guerins family felt when they heard that ?

She trentens legal action against people who dare to even question her on her theories. She quotes conspiracy theories as facts when they are anything but. If she wants to run for election she is more then entitled to provide she fulfils the criteria, but she won't get elected because I've enough hope in the Irish electorate not to elect this nasty piece of work.

Well what can any one individual do on a European level not much.
At least we can a voice to call bs on the same messages from politicians different parties.

What will she call bs on? What does she know about the workings of the Parliament that she wants to call bs on? What will she bring to the legislative process to make it better?

Credible writer? Credible to who? The media in Ireland are almost all a homogeneous group. Their views and opinions even more so. She is correct that there is a cosy relationship between the media and politicians in Ireland. When was the last time there was some decent investigative journalism in Ireland? Have the affairs, drug habits and visits to prostitutes of our elected representatives ever been reported on by the main media outlets in Ireland? Even when a politician was caught with an underage prostitute (not the one you are thinking of) it was deemed out of bounds and a “personal matter” by a complicit media.
