Saoradh dissident republican march in Dublin

So less than 48 hours after the senseless shooting dead of journalist Lyra McKee in Derry during rioting, the dissident republican group Saoradh brazenly marched through Dublin city centre yesterday.

I consider this march to be a direct affront to democracy in this country and something sinister and very unwelcome.

An insult to Lyra McKee and her partner and family and a direct challenge to our State and society.

Should they even have been allowed march?

The article states that they are backed by the New IRA. Not that Saoradh officially backs the New IRA or it’s terrorism.

I don’t mean to be a pedantic nitpicker here but, I’m not going to say that Saoradh should be banned unless they are actively calling for violence and/or have been responsible for violence themeselves.

As much as I despise their ideology, these fools have the right to Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Association to the extent that they do not incite violence or commit it.

What do you think this would have achieved? Their membership would have gone up, not down. You would literally be handing them free propaganda about how the Irish state has sold out on reunification and how our new former PSNI Garda Commisioner is a unionist puppet.

This would have been an extremely bad thing to do.
Let them march so we can make fun of them and the second that we find out they’re involved in illegal activity, arrest their leadership and force them to disband.

Wanting these scum bags to get a hiding off the Garda and them actually getting one is the difference between fantasy and reality - meaning I'd love to see them get their comeuppance, but know in reality they were never going too.

This crowd are pond scum, the lowest form of life there is, they live on the fringes of civilised society, I have nothing but loathing and contempt for them.

Anyone who tries to defend this scum is of their ilk.

I happened to be in town on Saturday with the OH and the kids, couldn't believe what I was seeing and everybody seemed to be the same, very quiet and somber atmosphere, worrying times between that poor girl being killed and the huge amount of ATM robberies it sent shivers down my spin
