Lets pretend the Championship has 16 senior teams with 4 groups of 4 with 3 group games, quarters semi and final. If there's a need for a play off then because it's special event it's played during the break week in the Munster Championship (would there be a max of 10 county players impacted???). Then the quarter/semi and finals are all played in September. Every club is going to be affected by dual players or other stuff so just play the games IMO

i agree it would work and work well , but i imagine you would have less good runs in the championship like we saw from say feakle 3 years ago clooney in 17 and the mills last year as going back to my kilmihil theory from 2010 ( i think ) where we were going well before the break

maybe if there were a set of maybe 8 or 10 league games to keep clubs busy in may and june it would enhance the club championship when it resumes

the national gaa calendar is all over the place at the moment , the county board are missing a trick though with not allowing more club games through the inter county window

miltown beat cooraclare also this evening by 2-18 to 1-06 cormac murry scoring 2-07 eoin cleary with 3 points also ,

crusheen got off the mark with a close win over the blues in the final game in division 1A in the hurling , ballyea and the townies look to be the strongest sides in 1B early on , mighty win for broadford also in the 21B some final long over due success to the parish after so many near misses at this level and intermediate hopefully they can hang on to the bulk of this panel now for the next few years at adult level

in football big win for miltown over cooraclare , cormac murry scoring 2-7 in the process . keelan sexton notched up 1-6 for kilmurry ibrickanes win against lissycasey

After a positive start for the Shannonsiders men, who led 0-5 to 0-2, midway through the 1st half, Clare came storming back and outscored Limerick 1-5 to 0-1 from there on. Not at the game, but know that St Breckans Jamie Stack got what could be an all important goal for the Banner men.

There's probably more on the sideline than either on the pitch or in the stand

There all the devolepment squad coaches , the squad is normally split into two groups of 20 or 25 earlier on in the year before the squad is cut to 30 , normally a squad will train in west clare and the other in caherlohan

yeah were down a good few for the first game against lissycasey where they got well beaten , a number of lads not committing just yet due to work or collage , i believe they have lost tom downes to the eire og hurlers also

but in saying all this they were very poor in the championship last year and the under age sucess that they have had at minor and u21s has yet to filter through to senior , take away sean o'donohue and pearse lillis and they are very light , a few are carrying injuries but to under line there problems with there younger lads it seams the likes of jack morrissey who was a serious prospect at underage level is struggling like many of the under age lads to find a consistant level at senior

on top of this there club is involved in a garda investigation at the moment in which it seems one of the coach's texted some sort of images to some of the underage players , the champion had it on the front page last thursday

to be fair to the club they did contact the guards immediately and have left it up to them to deal with it , no coach is allowed text a minor without adult consent first , so for example it there is a club whatsapp group say for u16s or even minor level the parents of the players have to be added to the group also
the allegation is that the coach sent a text or texts directly to some players phones which is 150% against current rules

its safe to say from a betting point of view that you could draw a line across there chances of winning anything this year the way things are shaping up at the moment

full round of clare cup games this weekend most of which took place tonight in terrible conditions , cratloe finally come out of there slumber with a huge win over a very poor tulla effort ,inagh kilnamona lead the way after 4 rounds in division 1A in 1B the townies surrender there joint top spot after defeat in whitegate , ballyea were too strong for barefield and are out on there own after 4 games , while most games were fairly close the standard was pretty poor weather didn't help , you would have to wonder how much some clubs have done though training wise , this is very much why a summer league is required without intercounty players to strengthen club numbers and soccer season over

Summer leagues are waste of time. Players aren't fooled by mock competitions. Once upon a time we had divisional competitions in Mid-Clare, East clare etc. Once the novelty wore off there were more walk overs than matches.
This problem has to be solved at a national level .

on an evening like this evening though you would have to ask what is the point playing in these conditions too though , round 1 was the same

i remember them leagues and yeah they did turn out to be a bit of a waste , but at least clubs and club players had some involvement the tulla result tonight in cratloe is almost a carbon copy of the divisional leagues ,

i agree its a national problem and yes all the gaa have to do is set out designated club weeks throughout the summer , only problem is intercounty managers stopping lads from playing or canceling matches , it happens here all the time

Really infuriating stuff going on with the Clare U20 hurlers, through no fault of their own. They played Galway in a challenge match in Cusack Park on Sunday. However in typical Pat Fitz style, they fail to get fed post-match. Simply unacceptable stuff in the 21st century.

Below is the tweet that was send by Clare hurling legend Conor Clancy, who also said that this isn't the first time, that this not being fed post match has taken place this year. He also pointed out that Galway had to tog out outside the dressing room in Clare's county grounds. For the sake of Clare GAA, clubs here must send out the strongest statement that the current County board executive is not fit for purpose. Whether that through a vote of no confidence against the board or whatever, something is rotten in the hierarchy of the CCB. No wonder people are so disillusioned with the way Clare GAA is being run.

On the back of the FAI, boxing & PUC fiascos, it would be interesting if the govt ordered an in-depth audit of all govt funded sporting organisations in the country.

It would be interesting. It's not so long ago that well over 2 million euro was granted to 'upgrading' Cusack Park. This upgrade left us with the seats for people with no legs and the toilet block behind the terrace not being upgraded. An new exit cut in the wall and that's it. About 500,000 spent I would guess. No dinners for the kids and no sign of change at the top.
In fact if the current secretary steps down from the Iron throne there is talk that the next secretary will be a member of 'House Fitzgerald' aswell. The Fitzgerald Bannermen are planted throughout the delegates and the people of the West, East ,North and South need to wake up.

Everyone involved in the "upgrade" was told to submit 2 sets of receipts, so I'm sure the books are 100% correct, also anything that was delivered was delivered to CP, now it mightn't have stayed there but it was delivered, I've heard a story of a mini-digger being bought for the renovations, it was delivered to CP and then an hour later it was gone, the same digger may have been spotted at 1 of the "Houses" mentioned previously.

For me the biggest disgraces in Clare GAA down through the years in regards to corruption was what happened with the money that was gotten for Aldi and what is happening with Clare Abbey. Clare Abbey was bought and is just being left there, Tulla has been renovated but major problems with grounds. There was a fortune "spent" on investigating the feasability of building a stadium out on the by-pass but nothing came from it.

The problem is accountability. There isnt any,its the same as the FAI. If there was a Mazar's type audit done in Clare then it would make the FAI look like a well run organisation. There needs to be a change at the top and the middle. A clear out and some board members from outside the GAA being asked to come onboard.

Result Munster minor football championship

Clare 1-10 Tipperary 0-6

Magnificent second half display by the Clare men to seal a spot in the Phase 1 Munster final. First half was a largely forgettable with Tipp owning the ball and dominated possession and territory. Tipp had a great goal chance early on but St Breckans Oisin O'Loughlin made a huge save. Tipp were 3 points to no score in front when a complete lapse of concentration just before half-time handed Clare a lifeline. A short kick-out went horribly wrong and Eoin Talty found the Tipp net. From there on Clare rounded the half with 2 points to lead by 2.

The second half was most impressive. In spite of the breeze in favour of the Tipp men, it was Clare who dominated possession and territory. I thought that the Rouine duo in midfield were excellent. Shane Meehan was immense yet again with his movement and pace. In defense I thought the way they successfully turned over Tipp possession was also most eye-catching. Some heroic performances from the likes of McGroary from Corofin and Garry from Cooraclare. The high press in Tipp's kick-out also helped in Clare getting a foothold also. Great defensive structure in general

Again the nervy start will be a slight cause of concern going forward for the Banner men. However its a second win for Clare and with Waterford and Limerick drawing, that means that we qualified for the Phase One Munster final with one game to spare. Great win and huge workrate to boot too. HON THE BANNER!!!!!

Good win indeed. McGroary and Meehan were excellent. But Tipp aren't a bad team and I wouldn't write them off yet.

Great win for the minors last night. Seem to be a good group of lads and very effective at sticking to a way of playing.

As a side, any football heads out there, there should be a good league game this evening where Miltown host Eire Og at 7.30. Nice way to pass a beautiful evening.
