How would one find out if a vehicle imported from the UK was originally imported from Japan? This is the motorcheck result:

First Registered in Ireland 05/05/2005

Vehicle Imported Yes
Country of Origin Not Available

First Registered 01/02/1998

Previous Registrations
Reg Date Changed

Am I safe enough to assume it's an original UK car?

Edit just to add, it's a 1998, and on the mot history check website the registration date is February 98.

I don't know to be honest. They may let you away with it, if you're a regular customer! Who knows? My Mechanic/tyre fitter is a neighbour so I am lucky in that sense..

Need to go looking for tyres when I was getting the car serviced two weeks ago they priced me €147 for Kumho same that’s on it they are not a bad tyre that is with the Audi warranty thingy on them basically means if you make sh!t of a tyre you get a new one free. Half thinking I should of just got them when there for handiness. They are 245/40/18 so not exactly a cheap size 3mm left now so may price around would like to try the Michelin PS4s reckon they would be a lot more than €150 though. Decisions decisions.

No charge, they were done before but the powdercoating lifted from the inside of the rims.

Did you ever work on your car and end up with a extra bolt left over at the end. Well I did today.

I done a sump drop on my 4AGE blacktop. Such a bitch of a job while on your back. The centre sub frame had to be dropped, the exhaust, the front and back engine/gearbox mounts had to be unbolted off the subframe and then the alloy brace between gearbox and engine had to be removed and then unbolt the sump and then you have to remove the oil pickup and this other thin piece of alloy covering the entire sump and then it was well stuck on there and I had to be patient with it as it was about a milimeter thick so didn't want to bend it. Got it off eventually.

Then do it all in reverse. Bigger job than you would think.

I've held on to it anyway. I might remember another day and put it back where it belongs.

Tbh, I should have been writing down where each part went and stored them separately to avoid what happened with the extra bolt.

A tip i was given for jobs like that with a lot of stripping was to stick the bolts into a aul bit of cardboard and write down where they came from.

NCT on Friday, this is the first year in 7 where I'm having doubts as to whether the old 325 will pass. Last year was rough enough, handbrake failed the test the first time around so I replaced the shoes. Then during the test the power steering failed. This time the car has a hum out of the rear passenger side wheel which I have yet to investigate but I worry it's a wheel bearing. If it is it's probably the end of the line for my lovely bimmer

Wheel bearing wouldnt be so bad would it? A diff bearing i could understand you throwing in the towel.

Ah I'll need to change in the next while, 2 doors just isn't cutting it any more and I just couldn't justify the cost. I haven't actually priced it mind you, so maybe it's not as bad as I thought. And for now at least it's only a suspicion, nothing confirmed yet! If she passes it'll get another 3 months tax and plow on.

Looking at changing my car at the minute. Currently driving a 2010 Octavia vrs. Looking at perhaps an Audi A6 estate. Anything in particular to look out for in these? Probably be a 2015ish model and hopefully s-line if funds allow.

Would you garage it and turn it into a project? Daily driver and see can you get classic insurance on it?

I don't think garaging a 6 cylinder BMW is the worst idea. How many lads sent E30 325i's off in the 2000s for scrap or even mk1 and mk2 escorts in the 80's and 90's?
