Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Did you read up about what he said and did when the judge was sentencing him. I wish I had a small portion of his arrogance.

    He was a surgeon. I guess to be a surgeon, you have to have unbelievable self-belief. (But not to say you should break the law!)

    Watched this tonight. What a complete and utter fool. He was a general surgeon for the record and he wasn't wealthy. He didn't have a pot to pee in.

    I was surprised his salary was less than £90k.

    His arrogance was his downfall. Presumed the insurance would just pay out, no questions.

    Loved the cop standing next to the fire place.

    He went down for more than just that though. Mortgage fraud too.

    Great show pretty much every week. Often shocked by how lenient the sentences are in the end though.
    Last Mondays as said above was even more interesting than usual as it involved a surgeon from Meath.
    I saw it Monday and was amazed by him, what a horrible arrogant fecker thought he was above the law! Even his solicitor seemed to hate him!
    Rewatched it again this evening with the wife as she hadn't seen it. Still amazed by his arrogance, and glad someone for once on this did get a proper sentence.

    Watched this earlier. What a plonker, came from a very privileged background & thought he could outsmart everyone. Pompous prick.

    Taking photos of the so called stolen items after they were supposed to have been robbed!

    He didn't even get to hear his sentence because he was shouting at the judge!! and had to be lead away. I'd say he's getting on well in prison.

    Great show.

    I couldn't believe how things unravelled in the episode about the child porn. That was crazy. And yes, the sentences seemed to be lenient too.

    I think it was his parents based on what I saw in show.
    Odd they didnt mention the mortgage fraud in the show as well.

    He didn't even know about Exif data. Police didn't even have to get forensics on. Just right click and properties. Date they were taken was 3 months after the 'burglary'.

    The other items which were listed as stolen which they found in his basement didn't help him. The police were probably laughing at him behind the scenes. A child would have done a better job. Must of thought that nobody would have questioned him because of his title. Would be very interested to see how that case would play out over here, given the level of apathy that exists in the legal system towards insurance fraud.

    Hang on, you're being a bit harsh on him. He did after all have two and three of most items that were stolen but the thieves only stole one of each!

    Full of bull!

    When they asked if they could look in the cellar and he said no, he has stuff in there that he doesn't want people to see. Yeah, the stolen goods!

    Also, his last stab at getting away with it* when they addressed him as Dr and he turns to his solicitor and says "I've been addressed incorrectly" :D

    *I'm sure he tried every trick after the program seeing as it took 2 trials.

    The episode was full of great little moments. Laughed out loud when he asked the officer for her pen. Did anyone else catch that moment in the interview--(I think it was sometime around the "I'd like to go home now "point, when he addressed the two female officers as "Girls"?

    This guy deserves his own meme.
    McGrath wasn't in the dock to hear the number of years he must serve behind bars. Halfway through the sentencing, he shouted at the judge "You suppressed the information. You have abused your power as a judge."

    McGrath said the jury had not heard the truth and went on: "You talk to me as if I am a child. Shame on you."

    He then told Judge Mensah "You are an abusive, racist and terrible person. Shame on you for suppressing the truth."

    Although 24 hours is a great show, it usually leaves you sad, depressed and angry at the end because of the stories they follow. After watching it for a few years it's nice to have such a satisfying episode.


    Brecknock standing next to the fire place in Meath had us rolling. It's just a shame the 'girls' didn't show him that picture while he was lecturing them on the French having invented flat pack.

    I hadn't seen this before but I just watched the McGrath episode. It was great TV.

    He was so smug and it was wonderful to see him caught out.

    The one where the guy was shipping drugs in from the continent last week was very good. Experienced criminal and you could see he was trying to figure out what the cops had on him when they were questioning him. Real cat and mouse stuff.
