i have just moved into an area where there is an Aldi, i am not really familiar with the store, what do you recommend of their products.

If fad last for years and years on end then sure. Usually would have seen in in restaurants and fast food places as opposed to supermarkets though.

Had one today. Had the spicy one. Usually I like Spicy food , but be warned they are quiet hot.

Had a look this evening there when I was in Aldi, there's three of them available, there's that spicy version I bought already, and a southern fried one, and a buttermilk one.

They all seemed to be in and around the same calorific value/fat g etc. (If that matters to you)

But personally I like chicken thighs, and I like spicy chicken thighs even more, and I especially like chicken thighs when they're spicy burger type thighs, resting in a burger bun with a little bit of salad, and maybe a bit of melted cheese and some mayo.

Ice cold beer to wash it down.

Hurry the fcuk up Friday. :pac:

I can also vouch for the barbecue flavoured ribs, my lot love them and I buy them once a week.
I bought the rhubarb today and I've just stewed it, tastes gorgeous. We also prefer Aldi weetabix, the Kilkelly butter (the Gold version), like their salted/roasted peanuts, also buy the luxury loo rolls, the clothes washing conditioner is as good as the more expensive ones imo.

I have had the hams that you boil yourself, thought they were lovely, there was a smoked one I had before was really nice but the last ham I got was lots of fat in it so that wasn’t great.

A poster above said the rib eyes, they are brill.

I've been on the look out for chipper-style garlic sauce for a good while and this stuff is close to perfect. Just bought two bottles in Aldi

Mmm never picked one up, but my wife and the eldest lad are demons for chipper "garlic sauce", so will definitely grab one tomorrow to try and quell their appetite for it.

I have however bought the yoghurt/mint one and it's as good as anything the local Indian gives me in their tubs.

I tried the small can (250ml, 5%) of pre-mixed Clontarf whiskey & ginger as it has been reduced to €1 in my local ALDI and it was party friendly size.
It's 'fiery' ginger i.e. jamaica rather than canada style, think it would work better with rum and lime than whiskey.

I must try the cola sometime.

Someone recommended those Soulful dishes in the small plastic tubs recently - I tried the thai curry one and it is gorgeous. Perfect for a work lunch on a cold day and suitable for Vegans (I'm not vegan but aldi seem to really be stepping up their vegan friendly offerings so this may be helpful to someone).

Tried three of those when I didn't want to feel too guilty of ready meals.

The chicken one is very dry, couldn't finish it. Chilli is grand, there are "taco fries" which was made of minced turkey and sweet potato fries.

Wouldn't even be similar to taco fries, but OK taste wise. They lack of seasoning, but I guess they wanted to keep it healthy enough so salt was spared.

Chilli definitely the best of the three I've tried. Probably the easiest to get it right tbh.

Not sure if there are more. Wouldn't mind something from Indian or Chinese cuisine added to this range.

Their regular Jalfrezi and Tikka Masala were not too bad for a ready meal, but the chicken in them puts me off a little. The texture and taste is a bit plastic (I know it's ready meal so can't expect too much tbh).

The Chile Con Carne is great when you're feeling lazy, I spice it up with a load of chili flakes and pour it over some veg though, it would be a bit boring with the rice straight out of the packet.

Piri piri wasn't great I found, chilli con carne was definitely the better of the two.
Very handy to have in the fridge if your stuck and €3.50 is reasonable.

Card - very good, looked good and did the job.
Wine - also good - its been that long since I had the original so I can't remember exactly what it tasted like (other than I really liked it) but I enjoyed this very much and will buy again.
