Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Match of the weekend without doubt.

Chris Ashton currently giving generic soundbites on Carty.

Nothing I love more than watching Co-Naaaaaawkt

In fairness to BT there's a good bit of build-up on Connacht and very little mention of the Champions Cup. Pleasantly surprised.

Bundee has played 16 of the last 18 Irish internationals they just said there

I’d have sale as favorites but if the pack can keep it fairly even can see a bit of carty magic giving Connacht a serious chance.

Tom curry is the one player I’m most worried about, especially without butler and faingaa. Big game needed from Connolly, who’s never let the team down before.

Butchered that a bit. Carty and Godwin should have scored between them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Bridge93

    Carty fair f**ked that up

Hard to blame Godwin too much. Was a really poor offload but a great tackle. Should've scored that.

Very simple stuff. Niyi have a rough return defensively.

They're walking through us with the ball.... they look good for 4/5 tries thus far.

Sale pack well on top and Faf orchestrating. Could be a long night ðŸ˜

    McGinty class so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,383 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

And McGinty nails both conversions from opposite side lines.

This will be over in 10mins. Barely a phase goes by where they don't make ground.

Thought aki could have worked harder to get on his right shoulder tho.

Kick over a rush defence. How are they not seeing that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,166 ✭✭✭✭Zzippy

Sale defence up very quick every time. Hopefully room for a Carty chip and gather in behind at some stage

Bull****e call. No material effect on anything

    Mistakes killing connacht.

  • Registered Users Posts: 204 ✭✭griffinlee

game is done already, you cant just leave 10 points out there in a quarter final. this could be a very tough day at the office

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,442 ✭✭✭its_phil

Missing Butler and Colby badly here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,383 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Shaping up to be an awful hammering unless we seriously buck up.

On what planet has Denny not moved there? Being ridden by Raynal

The policing or lack there off of any sort of offside line in most games these days is a joke. Very hard to put together any sort of attack

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,805 ✭✭✭Swan Curry

it's spring. the days are getting longer, the clocks are going forward, and connacht are getting knocked out of europe, as it always will be

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,386 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

Touchjudge tapping the hooker on the back as he's lining up the throw.

No wonder it doesn't go straight.

    Rediculous.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,706 ✭✭✭clsmooth

Ref blows up Connacht 2 for stepping in at a lineout. Fair enough it’s a penalty. Faf puts the ball in to the second row on the last scrum and nothing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 204 ✭✭griffinlee

always wonder why go through through the process of the challenge cup , get through to the quarters, then field a team thats not at full strength

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,005 ✭✭✭realhorrorshow

When I saw the teams I was worried that we would not win enough collisions to stay in the game and I think that has come to pass. Add to that our passiveness at the breakdown, set piece struggles, individual errors, bad reads, narrow defence, it hasn't made for pleasant viewing. Our attack is very prescribed, feel like we're just running through our patterns and not reacting to the Sale defence, like Cannon getting intercepted throwing a pull back pass that had obviously been called in advance but was not on at all.

Have to laugh at World Rugby coming up with all these law trials to improve the game when all day have to do is police the f*cking offside line. Hope we show a bit more guile in the second half and don't get any more injuries. Think next season is one too early for us to be in the Champions Cup tbh but we probably need it for financial and prestige reasons.

It’s what we’ve done all season. V difficult to win this season with Clermont involved

But for the sake of one maybe two extra games is it not a very viable route to the champions cup? Especially as clermont are going to qualify automatically

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,145 ✭✭✭testtech05

That scrum was a penalty for Sale first half!! We get a reset scrum....

Carty gone now FFS. The one player I wouldn't have risked tonight.

Realistically we're never going to win unless we come out of the group stage ranked in the top 2. Feel bad for the fans who've made the trip though.

To go far in Europe you need to rotate players through your domestic season, so you need to be fairly confident that your squad can get you the thankless wins that'll ultimately bag you a Pro14 playoff spot. Connacht don't have that level of depth yet, they need their stars in key Pro14 games which means they have to cut corners elsewhere. The Challenge Cup is the obvious loser here because Connacht would really struggle to win it anyway.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,442 ✭✭✭its_phil

That is unacceptable from a professional rugby player what Godwin just did

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Bridge93

That wasn’t even close. And as Connacht start to dictate the play

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,599 ✭✭✭ScrubsfanChris

Is that seriously the best kicker left on the pitch?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,071 ✭✭✭✭wp_rathead

    Oh my Kyle

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,145 ✭✭✭testtech05

Hopefully jack isn't badly injured or it's a disaster with the last 3 games to come and he's our only fit out half at the minute.

Yeah I suppose that’s fair. It’s the same argument to a certain extent you see in the Premier League with team prioritizing top 4 over FA cup etc. winning trophies always should be number 1 for me. Sacrificing potentially winning a tournament you’re 3 games away from to try qualify for the Champions Cup seems rash to me, especially when coming second and maybe lower than that in the challenge may be enough to qualify too. Like in theory could winning tonight potentially see Connacht qualify if the other three winners all qualify by league position?

Right except they’re two wins away from qualification in the league?
