It was gone quick, wondering what the mileage on it was or year, the silver one posted looks nice(not as nice as the blue one) but I think its a bit too much for an 03.

Hello all,

My 2017 Hyundai Tucson was written off through no fault of my own, yet insurance won't pay out. Still have to pay the monthly pcp so I I'm looking for a 08 or newer car with a high driving position under 2k, reliable, and hopefully easy to sell on when this mess is sorted.

Lower tax will mean diesel which at your budget for post 2008 will be a minefield.

Newer model rav4 in diesel is a risk. Tax on the petrol got higher in 08. How long do you realistically think you’ll need this car for?

3 months tax on a 1.8 is roughly 180. You’ll buy an 05 Rav for €1100 and sell it again for the same money in a few months.

Personally I much prefer the second generation shape, looks far more like a proper off roader. The third generation looks like a mammy wagon. I think the interior on the second generation is better too, if you can get leather and climate control it's a lovely work horse imho. Don't think the 4wd diesel is great on fuel tho.
I think the rear seats on the second generation can be completely removed too, which is handy.

The 4wd diesel is a waste of time unless you’re towing or actually need 4wd. They’re a ticking time bomb of a yoke.
