Got an invite to the launch on Wednesday, interestingly it states "Line up for Electric Picnic 2019 revealed PLUS a brand new summer festival!!!

"Festival Director Melvin Benn of Festival Republic will be on hand for soundbytes and questions. With Electric Picnic now fully sold out he will also announce initial details of a brand new festival taking place this summer. The stunning location of this new festival – brought to you by the Electric Picnic family - has never before been used and will provide the perfect backdrop to a new event on the summer festival calendar."

Surely choosing the weekend 3 other festivals are on would be a bit ridiculous?

if it's a family-centric festival, I could see it happening that weekend. ATN is far more focussed on the 20s/30s demographic, Indiependence isn't going to have too many taking kids, and Beatyard isn't really comparable.
A different weekend would make more sense to me though....

I dunno, given the choice of a long trip to Waterford or a short trip to Blessington I’d pick Blessington. I’m aware that this is a very Dublin-centric view, but hey.

Also, it’d tie in with their apparent plan to scupper any growth of ATN.

Was thinking more acts from All Points East weekends in London could play here. Bar Mumford and Sons, First Aid Kit, Julian Baker and John Hopkins playing here, there's a fair few other acts could play here

I saw another gig that was announced for that weekend though I can't remember the artist now.

I think it's the case that there's 3 one off gigs with support for that weekend in dun laoghaire.

I think the new festival will be somewhere else.

So Beatyard has used the carpark in Dun Laoighre , therefore my guess is its not going to be in car park in Dun Laoighre.

We'll just have to wait and see. But as we've seen with the emergence on ATN its festivals run by the smaller promotors that are gonna struggle the most, not Benn or POD.
