I hate March, the only good thing that happens is the clocks going forward. That's it. Otherwise it's a never ending train of cold, windy showers that really pisses me off. :mad:

Rain has turned to drizzle here in cork city. I've totally missed every conversation because my computer OS died and have had to fix that! Looking at the charts the white gold seems to miss us in cork again. Up the country looks like some decent showers though, but I wouldn't say it looks like it would stick as much as Freya

This March may well be the last time that happens depending on what the EU bureaucrats decide to do.

Probably the wrong place for this post but eh. Had a family member over and they were looking at our photos, One of them is a family photo of us in the snow down a lane which is surrounded by trees in Cork City. She genuinely asked ''when did ye go skiing?!?''. The look on her face when we told her that it was Feb last year haha. She was out of the country at the time so didn't experience it

Was just reading through the thread of that month, what excitement everybody had. Atmosphere was great.

They already approved the ending to the hour change but it will be 2021 before it's implemented. It will be up to the government if we stay in permanent Winter or Summer.

In my opinion at our latitude staying in permanent Winter time would be more beneficial. Sunrise at 9.30am in December and I won't see daylight at all for the month.

I actually think Winter Time is preferable overall but I must admit in March it's nice to have the "extra" hour of light as in Spring it's very useful, it's then largely wasted in Summer as being light at 11 pm is a big 'so what?' for me!

Why would you see more daylight if it's getting dark an hour earlier? Summer time is far more preferable. Gaining brightness in the evenings after work/school is much more useful for most people. Keep winter time and it'll be bright at 4am in the summer!

And to me, light at 11pm is amazing as I can work in the garden, socialise, whatever is daylight. Wayyyyyyy better than the sun rising before 4am in mid to late June. To me, that is a complete waste of usable daylight.

Sunrise at about 09:30 in mid to late December would take a bit of getting used to but it's dark getting up for work at that time and dark when beginning my journey to work so having it still dark when I arrive is not a big deal to me, especially as it's company time and not my own free time. Getting home to a bit of daylight in December would be great though. Winter would seem so much shorter. By early February, sunset would be after 6pm in Dublin and by the end of February it would be about 7pm when the sunsets.

Please let it happen!!! Hopefully the public will be asked to decide as I think it really should be the public who has final say.

The public were asked before, I voted for summertime. It was on the website (here actually http://www.justice.ie/en/JELR/Pages/Consultation_on_Seasonal_Clock_Changes )

Voted to stick with summer time and move more towards the EU then staying in winter time because NI is. (They asked! :P )

More daylight in the evenings in winter = better then the mornings and same in the summer. Thats the best part of summer time, the longer evenings.

Definitely for keeping the current setup. Sunrise near 10 am in the winter does not appeal to me one bit.

Hints of conditions turning milder and drier with high pressure returning to western Europe. I mentioned this as a possibility in the Spring forecast too. We shall see, too far off to be sure of anything really.

Yeah I'm hoping too but then there's another side of me who's worried that Summer will be a washout. The gorgeous February conditions don't give me the best thoughts for the coming Summer historically.

For me, March is winter. Dec, Jan & Feb were fine as months for decent weather, however March has been terrible

As ever nature seems to find a way of making up for a shortfall or excess of an element. We might be cursing now (I know I am as I work outside) but it could yet be the difference between dry riverbeds in August and not.
