Badly needed confidence boost. Much better in 2nd half. Clare ran out of steam after putting in a lot of running in 1st half.

Better 2nd half performance but too many passengers all over the pitch.

I thought if anything the opposite. No advantage given when there could have been a goal, high tackle on Harnedy could have been red, pull across the ankles when Cork were through on goal could have been red.

Only thing would have been Clare should have had a point I think but that was very tricky to see and it was the umpires decision.

Clare should have been out of sight in the first half though

Can’t agree with that. He failed to give Cork advantage for Lehane’s goal and Clare No 4 should have got 2 yellows. Clare’s discipline was awful.

Always enjoy the trip to cork , espically paric ui rinn as it has a far better atmosphere then most county grounds ,

Tonight was a fairly poor game though , first half very scrappy , second half cork the better team

I taught tim o mahoney had an excellent game for ye at half back that young lad sean o'donohue marking podge was excellent also ,david Griffin looks very nervous on the ball still , and McDonald looks like a passenger at times

In the forwards harnedy was hit and miss i taught even though he scored 1-1 ,horgan was worth the admission fee , it looks like poor ol Jamie coughlan will never reach the potentiel from underage

Lehane had a very quiet game against malone , , Cathal malone is usless in open play , has zero style or first touch but for some inexplicable reason can keep some of the best forwards in the country quiet

Christopher Joyce's form must be a huge worry as he is a serious talent if he wants to be ,

It must be seen as a good night at the office from a cork point of view espically with mark colman. Darragh fitz ect to come back ...

I thought Sean O'Donoghue and Daniel Kearney were both excellent last night, Hoggie was faultless on the frees too obviously and Cooper tried really hard.

I like the Clare team but they'll win nothing giving away that many scorable frees, even allowing that a handful of them were probably soft. Tony Kelly really is something else I love watching him play!

The match had all the hallmarks of one with no threat of relegation. I think that might suit Cork as it gives us the chance to blood different players that might make a difference in a match like last years semi final. For me even if we end bottom of the table the league will be a success if the management can find out whether or not Griffin, Walsh, Cormac Murphy, Jack O'Connor, Dalton etc are up to it.

Can someone remind what's the story with Mark Ellis? Is he injured / abroad / not in managements plans?

Do people actually think Tim O'Mahony is a good centre back, he doesn't mark anyone and just stands on the 45, picks up the odd loose ball but you could see how easy Tony Kelly had it tonight

He plays in the forwards for every other team

Not surprised with his selection on RTE as Daly was going to give it to a clare man and the Wexford woman had no love for cork. EIR gave it to Horgan

Funny enough we made the mistake of playing him centre back v Limerick in PUC and having Coleman as a sweeper with the extra man

That did not go well

Limerick half forwards will be a big challenge next weekend

He broke his hand or elbow or something last year after the league, that's what put him out of contention for the centre back position in championship.
Modern day centre back has to hold the zone, can't follow his man at all times. Kelly is a master at playing the space, it's the job of midfielders to pull back to cover, not easy to do. I just think from what I've seen that O Mahony is a 1 of our better options. Seems to have the brain for the position, great in the air and comfortable coming out with the ball and delivering or laying it off. I'd like to see him there for a championship game at least

Some goood news for the Cork footballers.

Sean Powter will be back in the Cork Football panel for the league game against Meath this weekend. He hasn't been in the panel since January 2018

Unless Cork do something unbelievable we are heading for division 3. There hearts aren't in the game and it's going to be a hard ask for supporters to go see them. I like Cork but I'm not going to watch them play or spent money following them until they cop themselves on in the county board and do what is needed to bring them back to top table again. I hate seeing Cork in the state they are because I know they can be so much better with better management. They are a joke at the moment and anyone here who will go and watch that dribble of football knowing that we could be so much better if we sorted out a few groundwork issues is short of something between the ears. Call me what you want and say what you want but you know I'm right deep down. Cork football is in crisis mode and we need a solution fast.
