I thought it might be interesting to have a thread where people can post weather extremes from other countries that might appear on their news feeds but are not generally reported on.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that the top 15 temperatures recorded in the world, yesterday, were all in Australia. Looking at the forecast map on that article, roughly half of Australia is expected to be hotter than 42°C today, with a quarter of the country hotter than 45°C.

Was 47° today where am about 30km north from Mildura. It's being like this since Monday and is to also be like this tomorrow dropping back down to low 30s the weekend.
The temperature out here though is taken at the airport in the shade so realistically it was probably above 50° today. The tap water is no longer nice to drink and the fish are starting to die in both the Murray and Darling rivers.

We're also knocking off work no later then midday as well as it just too much to bare.

I heard the average temperature in a part of NSW didn't drop below 39.8c for 24hrs.

Yeah when i was on the phone a few nights ago to home at half 8 in the evening it was 40.5°. It usually drops to its lowest here between 5 and 7 in the mornings.
