I thought the footballers did well today even given the result. The backs are starting to perform, but the forwards let us down big time. Taking Connolly off was ridiculous also.

Easy to be a back when you are playing double sweepers ffs, any fool of a coach can get a team to drip back, the hard part is the other end and that is where mccarthy,kirwan and their consultant have failed abysmally l. Once again they were an embarrassment in front of the hurling crowd, Connolly was poor again,his free taking is very unreliable and that is why someone like Sherlock should be.persevered with not dropped after a ****ing McGrath cup game in January, this team does t have the bottle to avoid division 3 and the management don't have the guile either. Clancy and loughrey poor again and yet both will start against Clare next weekend.. ....appalling setup

Another pathetic day for Cork GAA. They can start reducing the price of tickets on entry to the pairc for starters. 5 year plan in football seems to be going well. :rolleyes:

The backs will be destroyed come championship. Can you see them holding Kerry's forwards? They wouldnt even hold Kerrys C team.

Was at the games today. Pitch was cutting up during the football warm ups, it was in terrible condition...would not have liked to play a game of Hurling there. The young fellas at half time were actually hobbling around getting stuck in divots. Very disappointing day overall. Football game was a hard watch. Some bright moments but overall the same problems lie. Connolly is an awful frustrating player. They should have taken him off frees in the first half. First half in the hurling was good, second was flat. Thought Tim O Mahony played well as he did last year in the league. Forwards were rather quiet. Another one of those games from Lehane. Kingston looked up for it when he came on. It'll be interesting to see what role Aidan Walsh plays this year.

He is full forward isn't he? He should be burying a few as well while he is there. This Cork team isn't good enough and I can't believe why management aren't trying to do something to change this.

Come on man that's just ridiculous. It's a five-year plan for a reason, no one expected magnificent results two league games later. We should be patient and see what happens, judge it after a year or two at least.

We expect progress. We aren't seeing that any time just yet. Both our football and hurling teams are going backwards. They are a laughing stock at this stage. Do you want to see Cork footballers playing division 3 next year? It's looking that way right now.

Not surprised. The Ladies should look to play their games away from the Páirc , it simply is not a good enough surface for any level, including clubs. They will be replacing it later in the year.

Given the debt the county board were looking to maximise as much gate receipts as possible and took a chance.

In their defence the new regime is about 3 months old and didn't try and insult people's intelligence and claim there was nothing wrong. Acknowledged there was an issue straight away and took action.

I'd say things will improve a lot for Cork overall in the years ahead.

The only action they took was to move all Corks future games to Pairc. Ui Rinn. This was a must as there was uproar from the people.

The pitch was a state last year too. Many describing it as a beach with all the sand flying about.

Let's be honest if this was happening in Kilkenny or Kerry we be laughing our hole at them.

Gaa in the county is at all time low in Men's game. Not won a AI in while. Even underage teams are struggling. I never get carried away with league with Cork though. But if this is what is a sample of what is in store for Summer it could be short one.

Not so worried about Hurlers with players having come back from other competitions etc. But the footballers start is very worrying and looks like we are going backwards.

The Women though have been the inspiration this decade.

Absolutely correct, I've been following them for many a long year and they continually impress, in both codes, at underage, at different levels including club level.

12 months ago the board would have blamed global warming or the like and not taken any responsibilty. At least the new regime has not tried to bury it's head in the sand and claim everything is fine and dandy.

Seemed like an O'Donovan response to the situation. He can't be blamed for it in fact he has been left with a right mess by the cowboys before him. By all means if this reared it's head again then the board is fair game but it's a bit unfair to put all the blame on the new board or this.

It's what the new board will do in the future is what everyone be interested in. Fair enough they weren't responsible for the pitch condition but they must act accordingly and get this sorted. Cork GAA is at an all time low and this situation with the poor pitch doesn't help matters at all.

Tom Collum Cup (U19 B Hurling) Final

St. Francis' College, Rochestown v Hamilton High School, Bandon @12 noon

Dr. Harty Cup (Under 19 A Hurling) Final

Christian Brothers' College, Cork v Midleton CBS @ 2pm

with Cork playing Clare that evening the board are going for 3 games in PUR in a day. pity the times are not nearer the evening game, would get a great crowd for the schools games if there wasn't such a wait to the league match

True but I reckon there will be a great crowd regardless, 4 Cork teams is a fantastic achievement in itself, a great sign for the future surely.
