I think he's rationing up the price difference and coming up with 102.

Going with 2 pool defenders is all well and good, but when someone asks who they should replace Kane with, suggesting VVD or Robbo doesn't help their cause, cause they still need a striker.

I agree we need to factor in the alternatives as not the same position & as such I have opted for Alli (3-5-2) and Long as the alternative over Firmino, Etheridge, Puncheon.

AS I said, if i wasnt on wildcard I would be happy going for Firmino and then upgrading but overall for remainder of season I think a double up on Liverpool defence is better option than double Liverpool attack

The only problem with the ratio logic is that you then would be expecting Salah to get 9.65 points per game, when he's currently only getting 7.3. 9.65 is a goal a game and 1/2 bps depending if he gets a CS point. For someone who doesn't get many bps, that's asking a lot.

If also means that Firmino would end up on more points this season, than he did when they were scoring goals for fun last season.

Your also only looking at the upside, let's say you have double pool defence and they concede, straight away you've lost points on 2 players.

My advice was purely based on a replacement of one player not WC your entire team, we've seen in this game that people fairly quickly change their views on long term planning, for instance if Liverpool concede in 2 goal in next 3 games and you have double pool defence, there is a fair chance that you will change your strategy, regardless of your rationing for brining them in.

Kane, TAA and Snodgrass to Jimenez, Robertson and Pogba for a -4. Wanted Rashford ideally but already have Martial and a United triple-up in attack isn't something I think would be wise.

Just on this, purely on a value and ratio logic, Etheridge has out performed Allison to date. He has 4 double digit score this season compared with none for Allison.

Allison has received 5 bps, compared with 14 for Etheridge. With pool defence so tight, Allison doesn't get the chance to save a penalty so his ability to gain bps drops significantly.

Etheridge's fixtures are fairly decent, and so if your picking Allison, you have to expect him to score 1.28 that of Etheridge, whereas to date he is outscoring him by 1.08. That's a significant outperformance based on current stats.

IF you were to go Robbo and VVD - then you have the attacking thread and more bps returns.

It’s unfair to compare Firmino and Allison, as someone said you’d need to look at the alternatives and couple those choices.
Its similar to people saying they consider Alonso to be a midfielder, utter nonsense.

On the argument of Liverpool conceding in two of the next three, you can only play the hand in front of you. It’s a snapshot and you’re doing ur best to predict how this will continue.
I think Liverpool’s tight defence is more likely to continue over a free scoring ‘17-‘18 model of Liverpool.
But that could be nonsense come this time next week

Sterling or Sane, and maybe Auba? I know they have Chelsea, but they have Cardiff the following week.

Firmino is the other choice but obviously you can't pick him. Aguero is another option but he carries the Pep risk.

Ive Martial myself but yes not a sure starter. Sanchez and Mata may come in from time to time and Martial and Lingard could easily drop out.

Id go with F. Anderson if available.

This is where I'm at with 1 FT left. The team is in good shape, so I'm leaning towards rolling it, as there is a 10 day break after this GW, which could include transfers and more injuries.

my choices, in my mind, are:

Roll the transfer.
Bennett ----> Digne (though i don't like the idea of 2 Everton, despite their fixtures)
Ricky or Deulofeu ----> Mane
Ricky ----> Sterling
Jimenez ----> Auba

i don't want to lose 0.1 on Ricky as my team value is already quite bad, but I can't shake the idea that he's destined to score well soon. he's one of the highest amount of shots in the box over the last couple of GWs. but, I love the idea of Mane or Sterling in the team to have real powerhouse midfield.

Auba, while somewhat tempting, just doesn't excite me for some reason.

Any thoughts are welcome.

Glad I haven't transferred him out yet so. I'd imagine it would be dangerous for him to play with the injury still fresh so he might miss out anyway but would be handy for him coming back 10 days later.

Exactly what I'm doing.

I had wildcarded last week and while I had the money to upgrade to Robertson, I didn't and instead went Mane -> Salah. I done this weeks transfers only a few hours before the injury news came out, so I was angry at myself for transferring early!

Gonna just play him now and if he is not in the squad, my 1st choice bench option is decent anyways.

Personally I would use the transfer, 5.4 is a lot to be carrying in the bank and seems like a missed opportunity.

Auba I don't love even if he'd be considered the safe and proven option. Just the fixtures in the next 3 don't enthuse me for that price.

Ricky > Mane makes sense as a transfer, utlises the funds well and could be a shrewd differential. Sterling likewise. I got rid of Ricky this week so maybe I'm trying to make myself feel better about that but he hasn't been up to much of late and had a very quiet second half of the season last year. His underlying stats aren't great, a good Xg but an awful Xa.

I do definitely think Digne is a must have defender. He's so involved in their attack. He'll continue to provide attacking points for the rest of the season imo, he puts in too many dangerous balls, takes set pieces and seems able to score direct from a free kick. He seemingly blows every defender out of the water for Xa90, even those that have been considered must haves because of their propensity to assist (e.g. Digne = 0.30, Robbo and Mendy = 0.23).

I'd bite the bullet and get him in this week because I'm almost sure you will be forced to do so at some point in the future so might as well do it now when you have the flexibility to do it without a hit. He also has the advantage of offering a better potential for immediate returns this week over Bamba.

I'd then have another look at Ricky next week, but another blank and I'd shift him out meaning that the over-investment in Everton would only be a one week thing.

I do think that you will regret it if you ignore Digne due to putting faith in Ricky and not wanting 2 Everton. Digne is one of the first names on the teamsheet for any team WCing right now whereas Ricky has all sorts of question marks over him.

Which would you go with?

Others mids are Mo, Sterling, Pogba, Nasri
Other strikers are Rashford, Quaner (will upgrade once I know how much I have left itb)

Leaves me with a shortlist of Chicarito and llorente
