Anyone use the "we buy cars" online sites?

Anyone use those we buy cars online sites here?
Won't link to them but any of the search results for "we buy cars ireland".

I got a very low ball trade-in value for my car and was not sure if they'd be any better. Have submitted a couple of quote requests.

I always thought those illegal "we buy any car" stickers flyposted to every junction were dodgy, so not sure if a web page lends any of these crowds much more credibility ?

Not sure I want the hassle of a private sale.

Carzone is full of dreamers and main dealers with inflated prices. At this end of the market, carzone is not where you need to be looking. It's DoneDeal.

A friend of mine sold a 04 (I think) Accord last year fairly handily on DD. He got less than 1k for it, but it went no problem. Some small indie dealer who specialised in old jap stuff was delighted to get it off him.

Basically, if you get more than 700 for it (and you will), then you'll be up on the overall deal.

Question has been effectively been answered that I'm not likely to get any better from those "we buy cars" websites. Filled out a couple of online forms, will see if any get back today out of curiosity, most said they'd only reply if interested.

I typically don't change cars, especially if it's going well and reliable, but age and tax rates are against the Civic.

Trade-in is least hassle.

FYI: Liberty Insurance said they cover Jap Imports.

Problem is, he’s not getting €1750 for it, is he? The dealer is offering him that as a trade in price against the new car, but a good chunk of that is the discount on the new car.

You’d do much better if you put it on DoneDeal, if you have the patience and wherewithal to deal with a private sale.

Cost to change is whats really important but on the face of it that is a fair offer. You wont get close to that from a we buy any car crowd

At the risk of getting you upset, how much were you expecting?

What was the car worth when new, 12 years ago? 30k? Assuming a rule of thumb of halving in value every 3 years, then 1750 isn't too far off, especially when you are at the tail end of the cc tax system, and hence competing with 08 cars on the new system.
I'm not running down what's surely a fine vehicle, but the reality is its worth Fvck all in todays market. I think you may be taking it too personally.

I think €1750 is fair enough, sadly that's the way things have gone, the 'high tax' on it, over 10 years old, makes it not friendly on the pocket, lovely spec car though but that won't matter.

Whatever price you would get on the open market private deduct 50%, that's around the best they would give.
