Here's a video which seems to highlight the strengths of the Arcade1UP effort, more interestingly it shows the last attempt at a retail arcade cabinet that had abysmal build quality. Looks like we didn't do too bad all things considered.

Not even the right buttons, should just have a left and right button, fire and 1/2 player start.

Such a difficult game though - I remember playing it on old consoles and it was so very unforgiving I never made it past a couple levels...

The final fight cab includes ghosts n goblins, strider, and 1944 I believe. Pretty decent lineup there.

Saw the street fighter cab in gamestop Henry Street today, the thing is tiny, it was only 175 euro, dont know if that was for the display model or not.

€178 for the Asteroids and Space Invaders cabs new on their site also, the only remaining cab in the listing:

I'll be seeking advice soon on how to mount the pc parts in the case so they don't move around.

I also can't see away of removing the various revisions from showing up as duplicate games in Attract Mode with the game logos.

Seems like it's going to take some hard work.

I made a converter board that connects the socket on the 1Up control board to the RPi- GPIO header - using 2 old harddrive cables... no usb converters needed.

Works ok

Just need assemble in the cabinet and figure best key layout for mame.

The Invaders cab is ripe for converting to a classic vert game board.

Funny enough my father in law is building us a shed in the near future, unfortunately I'll need to put real life stuff in it like tools and bikes and toys. Anyway judging by the customer service I'm receiving from them at the moment I won't be putting anymore business..... Ah who am I kidding I probably still will:D
So I'm still waiting for my replacment screen, emailed them yesterday and they got back just not to say they are chasing their warehouse to see where it is. My bet is they don't even have a replacement in stock and I'll be waiting a long time.

Finally managed to filter my roms so only the parent rom is listed, therefore no more clones!

Also figured out how to filter games by keyword in Attract Mode, i was missing catver.ini so now filtering works, although games of a certian type were still left over.

So then I used a utility called MAME Content Manager Plus to filter out all the non Arcade Roms,
casino, mahjong, mature games etc..
from the romset (including random stuff like satelite TV boxes, digital multimeter firmware and god knows what else!)

Kicks clrmamepro and romcenter in the ass, far more easier to use.
It took a while but was worth it, im now almost 27,000 roms lighter.

So now I'm down to exactly 2600 games listed in Attract Mode which isn't too bad.

Only problem is the game fylers aren't centred, fan art takes precedence over flyers by default if available:

They said yesterday (after I emailed again) it would be shipped that day and I would receive an email with a tracking number once parcel force skanedbthw package but low and behold no email.
They are also out of stock in the Dock protectors. Won't be till the end of January.
So to sum it up their customer service is absolutely terrible.
I wouldn't mind if they just told me out straight they didn't have it or whatever but they keep saying its on the way.
