Aer Lingus Fleet/Routes Discussion

The seat map for the B767-200 being leased by EI next year are available on the Aer Lingus website, the seating is 2,3,2 in economy (As was suspected) and 2,2,2 in business

There are 189 economy seats and 12 Business seats making a total of the reported 201 seats.

Anyone know whether the B767 will be repainted, partially or entirely, in the EI colours for the 6 months that its leased for?

The rebrand isn't exactly new, is it? This B767 was flying for EI in 2016 in very similar colours to this new scheme.

Not normally to the extent of the unreliability of the Shannon flights though. That's really another discussion however.

Not awful and relatively modern , could get used to it. However ... That shamrock is just pure wonky and looks like there's something wrong. Is it facing the wrong way round?

If that’s the new shamrock, it’s awful. It looks childish and somehow already very dated, it doesn’t help that it seems to face the wrong direction on the tail. Can you imagine that Shamrock in silver on the Business Class cabin bulkheads?!

The titles are equally awful, that ‘g’ in particular looks a mess. If they wanted to go for a ‘clean’ and ‘fresh’ look, they’ve seriously missed the mark. The current shamrock with billboard titles in the Aer Club font would have achieved that more than this attempt.

Hoping this is just one design they were considering and not the final effort.

Oh dear... It's not gonna 'pop' anywhere (ground or sky)... And it's free advertising. Not getting the shamrock redesign... It's childish... I'd keep the current one.

Agree... A blue line would be better than that light green one (more pop).

Font also looks a little silly/childish... Not helped by the equally odd shamrock... And to finish... Oh dear... Hope it comes out better than the drawing. 20yrs of that!!! Looks tired already.

Its not terrible. If they wrapped the under-tail curl back around on the upper fuselage further forward it would finish it better.

Is that design sheet a definite version?

It looks like a drunk shamrock, looks so ridiculous..

If the current shamrock was retained, it would be slightly better, but the entire livery is so bland.

How is this a brand refresh?

Agree...it's bland...the font at the front should be larger.

Eurowhite works best when there's an abundance of bright light creates more of a gloss affect....for example Qantas' Eurowhite works well in contrast to the the bright Australian sunshine, red centre and the white colour is reflective in bright and sunny climates.

In Ireland's grey skies and weak light white isn't going to look more matt than gloss. It will look far better on screen than it will in reality, but could be worse, it's not JAL, Lufthansa, Iberia or China Eastern.

Will be very meh in reality.

The nice blue colour seems to have been dropped too. Just two shades of green is very drab. Sort of like that awful Rugby scheme.

Maybe they should go the whole way and rename the airline 'IAG Ireland' and be done with it.

Agreed. Lufthansa have set the gold standard for a 'non-livery'...even had to revisit it because the dark blue was too dark and appeared black in dull overcast conditions.

Saw that image myself on an ex-EI staff facebook group just this morning.

Agreed on the copycat thought. I think its just the trend in marketing/design recently that a mostly white livery is more neutral.

Paul Buckley, Head of Social at Aer Lingus has indicated that EI-DVM, the Retro, isn’t going anywhere.

In an exchange on Twitter he replied to a user who had shared a Change.org petition set up to keep the retrojet flying (yes, really) and stated there was no need for such a petition. When asked if that meant the retrojet would be around for years to come he simply replied “yup” much to the delight of the retrojet fan!

There’s nothing quite like the rumour mill at Aer Lingus!

In fact, branding plays a huge part of any company, but especially in the airline business.

After all, the brand/logo is the visual cue to which the company embodies it's principles and it's values.

In order for a brand to be successful, it must be eye-catching, memorable, and the service provider (the company) must provide an adequate level of service to which the customer will react to in either a positive or negative way.

Sorry for the lecture, but I studied services marketing..

My point is.. Airline liveries and logos are divisive issues, and aircraft spotters and aviation enthusiasts can get upset about it (,myself included), and the Aer Lingus brand refresh is a prime example.

The Aer Lingus brand is a global phenomenon- particularly the 'Shamrock' logo and the beautiful fresh green livery.

The current livery, although introduced nearly 23 years ago (Feb 14th 1996) is still a modern and fresh livery, and when Stephen Kavanagh mentioned the brand would be refreshed, I surely thought it might be a small tweak to their current livery.

I certainly hope that it the case.. The same livery tweak to which KLM did, its a really nice livery.
