MOD NOTE:
Its good to see healthy debate and discussion taking place and I am sure every supporter of cryptocurrency and blockchain can agree that the contrarian viewpoint is worthwhile reading, if only to act as an anchor and help prevent investors from getting carried away in an echo chamber of "everything is wonderful, just keep going"

However, there have been a few reported posts recently which I did not action as I wanted to see the thread level out itself rather than start forcing viewpoints and I have been in two minds about that decision.

I'm not going to single any posters out but I'm going to ask that all posters read the forum charter and I want to point out that it was established years ago in the Television forum, that dropping in on a forum to tell the followers of that forums topic (in that case a particular tv show) that it was all crap and only idiots watched it etc etc was the exact definition of being a dick and attempting to troll. I know this because I was the mod of the forum at the time. Now look at the forum charter again.

There is pretty much one rule on this forum : if you cannot discuss in a civil manner, and I mean discuss, not soapbox or attack, then you have absolutely no business posting here and I have no qualms about removing your ability to do so.

This forum is for people that have in interest in cryptocurrencies, blockchain and their application to financial investments. that can be positive or negative but if you really feel the need to start pulling out memes / hiding insults in imaginary hashtags / attacking personalities or just generally being a dick there are other forums you can post in where I will let the local mods determine if it is within the scope of allowable behaviour. Here, it is not.

I don't think your analogy is even handed. I did point out that I don't know to what extent they can organise themselves or whether this will become a clearly driven objective. On the law of proabilities - will it happen - probably not. Can it happen?....most definitely.

As regards reporting from crypto sector, sure - that will tend to happen with anything that has implications for or is aligned with crypto in some way or other. So what?

What it has to do with crypto is that if you search for this story the vast bulk of the 'reporting' of it is from crypto websites (and a couple of others that talk about 'Zionist' control of the banking system).

There are reports out today that the 'yellow vest' movement in France are planning on a run on the banks. What has this to do with crypto? Well, it should bring home to people that an 'event' with FIAT only has to happen once. We may experience relative stability but it doesn't take much for circumstances to change.

Equally, due to the very nature of fractional reserve banking, it may not take much for this to cause a problem. I have not been following these events so I don't know how well organised this lot are. It could also be deeply insightful to ordinary people as to how little it may take to effect such a scenario.

Even if they're not successful, its food for thought with regard to taking control of your own finances in any event.

I like the current market, I feel any sharp rises will be quickly culled and rekindle super-low confidence, instead it seems to be slowly ticking along - nothing too dramatic, and that's good

If it can manage to do this for a few months it will hopefully renew confidence. I still feel that this year needs to be similar to 2015/2016. But, if we get a bull run, we could risk dipping right back into a bear and back to square one. TLDR the market needs a lot more time to recover basic confidence

I see some maturing tech already..
Stable coins are a great development , MKR is doing well. It's proven itselfin the downturn in my opinion .

Travel blockchains have concrete use cases AVA LOC. Also lending block chains , LEND .

IOTA is constantly improving, so is NANO. Just needs more adoption.

All these projects I have followed quite closely for between six months to a year and they are legit.

Security coins could finally start to take off, lots of contenders. Theres massive potential to monetise assets on different ways.

Using block chain for image , video and data authentication is going to be a powerful use case . Look up Amber.

Buying in stages and (eventually) selling in stages is recommended. It may be years before we see significant (if ever) rises again

This recovery over the last few days is driven by speculators closing out shorts. But it's an artificial rise, and already on it's bounce back down. ETH peaked at €137, and is now testing €99.

The tech that was promised is coming on stream, once the ICO'S start again it will come back. Pretty slowly. I reckon it will take the year to get back to about 4k a bitcoin.
