My parents are coming to stay for the night so we'll probably get a takeaway. They're talking about heading down to Christchurch for midnight, however I plan to be in bed asleep by my usual bedtime of 10pm.

I am going out for dinner early at 5ish with a few friends, then meeting a few more friends after for drinks. I'd say home about 9ish to spend new year's with the dog. Probably asleep about 11.
Not a big fan of new years it tends to be mad.

Pizza and wine with the Mrs. Was never much of a thing for me but I'll stay up til after 12 as the Mrs likes it.

Hopefully find a film or something as the 'ringing in' show on RTÉ is usually poor enough.

We never go out New Year's Eve, it's the worst night of the year in any pub/town, myself and OH will crack open a bottle or two tomorrow night and enjoy it in the comfort of our own livingroom away from the hustle and bustle, bliss

It's another excuse to follow a stupid tradition that in reality the majority of people hate so paint smiles on, sing depressing songs and jump around to
celebrate a bloody day changing because that's what "tradition says"

Go to the local pub for an hour or so between 7 and 8 o'clock. Love looking at the entrants.

Then leg it and get a lovely chippie from Mario across the road.

Home then and eat, and Jools H (recorded in July, I know....) and there we are.

Working new years eve & day, so home with oh & kids, few glasses and in bed by 12.15. Kids love seeing the fireworks from London. Hate new years eve out, people hugging & kissing you and wouldn't look at you the next day.

Tbh normal night in their gaff - few scoops, that's it.

Completely... Next up is a need to celebrate "January" with "sales" cos you know not enough boxes of king, slabs of Guinness or tacky overpriced mass produced pieces of plastic from China were bought in December.

As you say it's "Grinch" sounding but mainly to those easily brainwashed by corporate induced events
