I simply cannot stand consistent subjective negative posting which seems to be motivated by some desire/need to be judgemental in the absence of paying attention to what is actually happening.

I couldn't agree more. There's time I love the show & times I hate it but this thread is far worse than anything Ciara might have on the show. It's getting really depressing. I've unsubscribed the thread several times because of the negativity constantly bombarded here. There has to be something positive on some of her shows. She must have an interesting guest every now & again? I liked the Male health spot & the health insurance expert are good

    Mod Note

No personal sniping at each other, if you have an issue take it to pm or report the post, bans from here, there has been ample and enough warnings in this thread over the last while.

Out of curiosity, are you her husband or something? This rush to attack every single post on this thread is a little weird if you don't mind my saying?

He does the same on the Off the Ball thread.

No one can say a bad word or offer any constructive criticism without a staunch defence.

I just find it a little curious that a few posters seem to spend an inordinate amount of time on this thread. If she was my mother i doubt I'd spend that much time defending her.

What I find more curious are the posters who clearly dislike the show and the presenter yet spend an inordinate amount of time on this thread. They hate the show yet listen to it regularly, waiting to hear something that they can complain about on here. I just don't get it. Surely there's better things to be doing. If I don't like a show I don't listen to it and I don't post about it, other than maybe posting once to say why I don't like it.

Some of us are subjected to these shows at work and can't change the dial.

I don't like the presenter. I find her two-faced especially when she said that she wouldn't mind living beside travellers. That's just a lie as far as I'm concerned.

Listening to the road safety part of of the show and I'm blown away at the amount of men talking. 12:25 and so far the only female voice has been ciaras.

Yeah, but she also cut them all off mid conversation, thanked them for their point while usually dismissing it and definitely any that went against her own opinion.

I find the segments are too short most of the time and that leaves her rushing them & killing interesting conversation. I still think a lot of it is down to bad production but I do cringe when she rushes her guests

One of the reasons I generally reach for the dial when I hear her on.

Caller comparing men's steroids and women: "2 beachballs on her chest" :D
Ciara: "I've kinda had enough of this" and cuts him off

Proof that gym makes you stupid on the radio atm. :D

Dumb steroid guy got his ass rightly handed to him.

I don’t normally listen to this show, is Clara always that condescending and patronising? I cringed the whole way through that.

    Your man embarrassed himself.
He did more harm to the acceptance of using steroids than the show tonight is going to do.

Suggesting that women taking the pill is the same as using steroids to bulk up muscle is ignorant.

Absolutely nothing to do with her. She gave him plenty of airtime and outs, and he just kept digging and digging and digging. She was pretty measured given her qualifications and what that guy was regurgitating.

Only caught the last few seconds as Ciara was cutting him off - sounds like I missed gold.

It was a joke... you know the stuff you don't need to take 100% seriously.

You should listen back, the caller voluntarily hit a wall at full speed. Came on to say how he thinks the documentary on steroids tonight is going to sensationalise it, and then proceeded to be the worst advocate ever. Ciara had sympathy for him at the start when she realised he has no idea what he's talking about and was embarrassing himself, but eventually ran out of patience.

He was claiming so much nonsense he was actually dangerous.

At times Ciara can go on about stuff she know little about but you shouldn't cross her on medical matters unless you have a degree in medicine yourself. He came across as a right fool. So much so that they could use that segment as a "why you shouldn't take these drugs". They didn't make his brain grow thats for sure :pac:

Listened a few times during my recent sabbatical and heard Ciara once again show both her lack of respect and amateurism when she had the Minister for Health on whom she most often addressed as "Simon", not "Minister".

Now I think said Minister is hugely out of his depth, but as the sitting Minister he deserves to be addressed as "Minister" - Pat Kenny for example would never make this mistake. I do recall this having been mentioned previously on the thread too when I think it was actually the Minister for Health again who was on the show and she addressed him by his first name. I know he's local to her and they may even know each other privately but it's overly familiar and disrespectful of the office he holds.

I don't place the blame entirely at her doorstep on this one however as someone from her production team should have tackled this after the previous interview.

Something tells me that might be easier said than done.

I am not a fan of Ciara Kelly but I would forgive her that one. It only massages their already inflated egos calling them 'minister.' If I recall, Vincent Browne often refused to use that term.

I too would not be that bothered about her not using the title. Politicians and titles bother me, almost like they feel they've been elevated above the people they are paid to represent. Don't get me started on chains of office ...

I have a vague recollection of that windbag Eoin Harris getting narky with a Newstalk presenter and actually saying "address me by my proper title" (him having been appointed to the Seanad for sucking up to Bertie). Comedy gold to rival his TV3 meltdown.

It sounds absolutely ridiculous to call someone "Minister" instead of their name.

I notice the phrase "Deputy" is creeping in when referring to a TD.
