These really are such brilliant cars. Buy one and treat it right and it will last you a lifetime. Pity about that tax on that one, IMO it needs to be closer to a grand to make any sense in the current economy but its still a cracker, and cream of the crop with the V6 manual and Quattro set up.

A bit of trivia: my father and Chris de Burgh were the very first private owners of this model A6 in Ireland in 1997. Both cars were 2.4 V6 saloons

Agree on the price being ambitious, it certainly needs to be closer to €1k if he wants to shift it. The tax is depressing.

No idea what happened to it sadly, he bought a Honda Legend less than three years later and I never saw it again.

The Avant above will steadily drop over the next weeks/months...for my sake I hope someone buys it before it falls into my place range

A good look over underneath is a must so if viewing. Depends a lot on what part of the UK it was in and how long it spent over there. I changed car during the Summer. Looked at a few ex UK Mondeos/ Avensis/ Auris/ Passat from the same year. The rust underneath them was shockingly bad - advanced corrosion I'd call it in the case of the Auris. I mentioned it before here but a lot to be said for a clean low owner Irish car even if they don't tend to have as much goodies.
