Both fantastic signings by the way & worth every penny. Instead of looking at the overall figure they’ve spent seeing as we know every club can’t spend that amount why not try look at the bargain signings and ask yourself why Liverpool or any other club make them? Examples, Bernardo Silva £45m & Ederson £35m combined £80m just as 2 examples. Weigh that up with Keita & Alison at (I stand to be corrected) combined £135m. These are only 2 of many examples for every club that I can use to counter argument the ridiculous notion that it’s hard to compete. Maybe they’re just doing much better business? Now, obviously if Liverpool were to win the league this year then the above paragraph I wrote is worthless because them players will have the medals & end of the day that’s what it’s about. On a final note, ‘Financial cheating’ has NOTHING to do with their premier league standing, they never broke a Premier League rule, it’s a UEFA rule. They could be banned from Europe for ever more, it’s nothing to do with the Premier League.

Take 2010 where they signed Dzeko, Toure, Balotelli, Silva, Kolarov, Milner and Boateng in one season. Net spend that year was £133m. The next season they added Augero and Nasri. They won the league in 2011/12. There was another sustained spending spree from 2015 to last year. They bought De Bryune, Sterling and Otamendi in 2015, then Stones, Sane, Jesus, Gundogan, Bravo and Nolito in 2016. In 2017 they went big again and went for Laporte, Mendy, Walker, Bernardo Silva, Ederson and Danilo. 15 players that would be contending for places in most teams. It really is impressive the way they have spent and the football they play is pure Pep at his best. If they weren't competing with us (as of right now) for the title it would actually be something to enjoy. But with those resources you really shouldn't expect anything less. It is impressive that they are actually surpassing expectations, which is saying something.

It's a totally different prospect when you don't need to sell players to balance the books. Since City were taken over Liverpool have sold: Xabi Alonso - £30m Torres - £50m Suárez - £65m Sterling - £44m Coutinho - £105m I don't even remember City selling a player for £20m. Am I wrong? If someone doesn't work out, just buy a better replacement in the next window and leave your player earning £150k+ sitting on the bench or playing for the reserves.

Switch over for entire first half of Man Utd - Arse. Back for entire second half of 'Pool match. Last 15 minutes of ManU-Arse. Solid 2 hrs of football.

But they've also spent millions on dross over the years, yet can take the hit because there is seemingly a bottomless pit of money to be thrown at the club.
