I think the annoying thing from our position is how many teams are beaten before they even step onto the pitch. Watford were well up for it against us but tonight just want to take their beating and get onto the next game.

And if it did, we still wouldn't have beaten City to the league so no, we literally haven't kept the pace with them as we were behind them going into this round of fixtures. But that's neither here nor there, I'm not going to be pedantic. My point is that I don't think Liverpool are good enough to sustain the form City will for an entire season. It's not a remotely controversial opinion and wouldn't be met with any kind of hostility if it had be posted anywhere other than this thread.

They are winning their games with pure quality nothing more nothing less. Any talk of teams raising their game to face Liverpool and not trying against them is just delusional paranoia imo.

City have 23 games to go so I wouldn't hand them the title yet despite making them strong favourites. No need to criticise Liverpool or say they're not good enough. City's form so far would equate to 103 points at the end of the season which is ridiculous and probably not achievable whilst Liverpool's works out at 97 which would be our best ever in the premier league and would normally win the league comfortably. So I don't see how we can do much more than what we're doing and just make sure we're there if City do falter. Imagine what would happen if Liverpool started playing well as they have played so badly in winning their 36 out of 42 pointsl.

Southampton this season was a prime example. i scarcely remember a more pathetic performance. For 12 teams in the League, it's about survival. the financial incentive is too great for most teams to even care about anything other than staying in the Premier League - so much so that teams are happy just to not be battered by City in particular. Commentators say it in commentary all the time - "they'll be delighted that they put up a solid performance and didn't get humiliated". that's what it's come to. The Premier League is getting to the stage where it's Super League in all but name only. half the teams just take the L and move on to the next game. i doubt they even care.

By the end of game week 15 last season, United were already 8 points off them, win tomorrow and we'll be only 2. By the start of January that gap had stretched to 15 points, the league was over then, we can not loose ground to city before we play them at away on the 3rd Jan. If we were to be 5 or 6 points off them by then and they beat us, game over.

I don't think they will drop many points this season. After Chelsea they'll have played all their rivals away from home already. They're on the back of a record breaking points tally and have sustained that form into this season. That's what I'm basing my opinion on. City have 23 games to go so I wouldn't hand them the title yet despite making them strong favourites. Anything can happen in football but I consider them strong favourites too. This comment is basically agreeing with me. No need to criticise Liverpool or say they're not good enough. I didn't criticise Liverpool. You're being hypersensitive (as are a few others here). I said they're not quite good enough to beat a team I consider the greatest team of the Premier League era to the league. 103 points would be 3 points more than their haul last year. 97 would be 22 points more than Liverpool's finish last year. Also, I said this Liverpool team would be good enough to win the league in past seasons. So I don't see how we can do much more than what we're doing and just make sure we're there if City do falter. Imagine what would happen if Liverpool started playing well as they have played so badly in winning their 36 out of 42 pointsl. We're doing fantastically. I've not been remotely critical of Liverpool. I expect things will click and we'll start winning games by wider scores but I also expect we'll have a few bad results along the way, a few more bad results than I expect City to make.
How can you say what City's form will be all season? They may get injuries, they may lose form. They may focus on Champion's League.
