What will the UK look like in 20 years?

So the UK finally finds out Brexit is bad and they will be a poorer country under every deal or scenario the UK will be worse off post Brexit.

My question isn't really about Brexit as it looks like it's happening. I'm just wondering exactly how poor the UK will become in the next decade if they'll be worse off in every scenario. I think it's remarkable to hear government ministers saying that their actions have led the country to be worse off. All of this started from a rivalry between two old Etonians too.

it has hit the most vulnerable badly, but be careful of those youtube videos, they are created with an agenda.

I have a good friend who was himself homeless and living on the streets in London for three years. He now works for a charity trying to bridge the gap between homeless people and the hostels, because the issue isn't enough beds or enough free food centres, it is getting those people in to them.

The problem is far more nuanced than just people forced to live on the streets and beg for food because they have no money, it is usually a drink/drug/mental health issue.

There are also a huge amount of professional beggars. Last time I was in Windsor the amount of sleeping bags in bus shelters was shocking. oddly though, when you walk past at 2am, they have all gone

They're leaving as (rightly or wrongly) simply felt their identity was at risk.

Not helped by an Etonian toff (quit the day after the result), who actually called the gamble. Dave never had to que in a NHS facility, or send his kids to an inner city school where English was the 2nd language, nor any clue as to the price of a loaf of bread.

They'll still have generational-migration, but like this week in the Channel (swimming with Iranians on dingies) they're have to nearly triple/quadrouple their border staff.

Ireland's border force will likely have to establish a presence in French ports should Rosslare become the next 'eldarado' signpost from those selectively choosing where to apply for asylum.

Britain's social divide has been growing faster then in most other European countries. Brexit will increase the income differences. If it continues it will lead to an even more divided country, alternatively it may lead to a revolt, which may not be peaceful.

It's weird to hear the crap coming out of some politicians in the UK. Like that eejit who said that english people could get Irish passports. Or the NI Secretary who said she never realised that people in NI vote according to their communities.

Personally i don't know what Britain will look like. All I can say is that it's all based on the next few weeks.

I've heard people say another vote is going to happen. I think it's necessary but unlikely. Neither of the major parties want it. neither party can rally support for it's plans (Whatever labours plans are. They're still leaving us guessing on a lot). The conservatives can barely get their own party to support anything. It may well be that they will crash out with a hard brexit because they simply can't agree on anything.

Generally a global/western trend, and to complicate matters China has a growing middle-class, demanding better wages.

That might sound good (export opportunity), but it indicates an underlying wealth shift from West to East. The West who have historically benefitted from slavery, conquest and exploitation will suffer the most against the mighty dragon on a level playing field.

The Bank Of England report suggests that a Hard Brexit could lead to Loads Of Money for the speculators. Especially those with foreign cash.

House prices falling by a third, sterling falling by a quarter ?
That would halve todays cost of buying a UK house if you have Euros or Dollars.

Unemployment and interest rates rising. Lots of people will find themselves in negative equity. Lots of people won't be able to keep up the repayments.

Vulture funds will be interested.

Inequality of wealth distribution is just one side, there's also the automation factor, whereby 35-50% of all current roles will become redundant by 2030 (12yrs), higher still in the full 20yrs.

Yes many studies show some new roles will be created, but there is 'more certainty' than current roles will cease than new will be created.
Also most new roles, will pre-require the very highly skilled or educated.

The only low skilled roles will be the most dangerous, dexterous or unpleasent to perform (maybe medical trial participants signing rights waviers).

The most at risk group is young, unskilled, uneducated, non-fluent males. They are also the most vocal.

Alas, Farage, Johnson, Rees-Mogg and company are on to a winner: when Brexit is shown to be a disaster, they will argue to their ideological constituency convincingly (because they're persuading idiots) that it would have been brilliant but for the EU with the collaboration of some British people undermined the will of the people. And so on ad nauseam with playing that line. The media will undoubtedly oblige with consolidating that "poor us" victimhood bubble. Just think about the consequences for Britain of their leaving this one EU project of the many they'll have to leave when they leave the EU club. Do the British really think they are going to create a sat-nav system that will be as good as the one created from the much greater resources of all the EU states combined? How much money will Britain waste trying to develop their inferior sat-nav system? And the consequences of all this for MI5/MI6/British military?

Brexit is a world-beating example of a nation cutting off its nose to spite its face. Stunningly stupid in its conceit. The 50 years of lies from the Tories/rightwing/Brexiters and their oligarch-controlled media have brought them to this position. Pride before the fall.

Reminds me of the Midnight Express book where people walked aimlessly in a daze in a circle in the basement of the prison clockwise around a pillar and got all upset when someone tried to walk the other way.

The whole intent of the scaremongering is to dissuade electorates in other nations - who have a lot of the same reservations these days - to call for their own exit from Europe.

Brexit HAS to be a disaster, significantly and visibility causing chaos within the UK in order for the EU leadership to hold its grasp on power.

If Brexit actually turned out to be ultimately beneficial and not this doomsday scenario that's pushed at every turn, the real disaster would be for those same politicians and EU institutions as it would likely start a chain reaction.
