    Munster:
    Mike Haley; Andrew Conway, Chris Farrell, Rory Scannell, Keith Earls; JJ Hanrahan, Conor Murray;
Dave Kilcoyne, Niall Scannell, John Ryan; Tadhg Beirne, Billy Holland; Peter O’Mahony (C), Chris Cloete, Arno Botha.

Replacements: Kevin O’Byrne, Jeremy Loughman, Ciaran Parker, Fineen Wycherley, Gavin Coombes, Duncan Williams, Tyler Bleyendaal, Sammy Arnold.

A lineup close to what we expect for Europe starts against Edinburgh tomorrow night in Cork. Carbery and Stander are the big name absentees from the starting XV. The visitors travel after a very poor loss away to the hapless Dragons, leaving them three points from the playoff spots.

Edinburgh team to face Munster at Irish Independent Park in the Guinness PRO14 on Friday 30 November, kick-off 7.35pm – live on Premier Sports

    11. Duhan van der Merwe (26)
    10. Jaco van der Walt (23)
    9. Nathan Fowles (61)

    1. Rory Sutherland (69)
    2. David Cherry (5)
    3. Murray McCallum (45)
    4. James Hodgson (3)
    5. Callum Hunter-Hill (5)
    6. Ally Miller (2)
    7. Lewis Wynne (2)
    8. Luke Hamilton (9) CAPTAIN

    Replacements:
    16. Ross Ford (188); 17. Darryl Marfo (10); 18. Pietro Ceccarelli (3); 19. Callum Atkinson (2); 20. Senitiki Nayalo*; 21. Sean Kennedy (65); 22. Jason Baggott* 23. Chris Dean (74)

Unavailable due to injury: Cameron Fenton; Fraser McKenzie; Lewis Carmichael; John Barclay; Magnus Bradbury; Luke Crosbie; Matt Scott; Mark Bennett; Damien Hoyland

That's a team being sent for a hammering. It's an extremely inexperienced pack and a debut at outside centre. The bookies have Munster at -17 and that's not going to last.

I suppose it reflects the difficulty of winning in Limerick/Cork but amazing the amount of A team type selections Munster have faced this season.

A little surprised at how strong that Munster side is, but a good warmup for the European games. Edin's pack looks very green. Hoping for a comfortable enough win and strong performance (though these are often the games where things falter a bit...).

Expecting good things from JJ - should have a good platform, Murray with him, and full strength outside him. Hopefully a confidence booster if nothing else.

Jokeshop of a pack from Edinburgh, 3 or 4 of them are senior club level standard.
Fowles is an appalling scrum half too.

Ah here. People say that the Irish clubs treat the league with contempt?

I presume Edinburgh have decided to focus on Europe but that team is absolutely woeful, Munster are going to run up a cricket score here.

Jj had enough chances , its time to give Bill Johnston some more game time .

Yeah, was kinda hoping we'd see Johnston alongside that lineup. Been impressed with him so far!

its hardly the first time this season either, weak sides being sent to away games is a notable feature

There have been a lot of easy home wins and, of the 63 games to date, only 17 away wins (4 of them for Leinster)! with majority of those against Zebre, Dragons and the SA Teams

there has already been a couple of weeks with no away win recorded.

That's a disappointing Edinburgh team. They've looked good at times this season but Munster will cricketscore that team. Have watched every Munster game this season but despite having this evening free I'm not massively pushed to watch the game. Will be good to see Murray and Farrell start but it's otherwise not a great weekend for the league to see some pretty weak teams.

Have Munster profited more than most for poor teams being sent to Munster?
    38-0 v Cheetahs, 49-13 v Ospreys, 64-7 v Ulster, now Edinburgh probably by ~30 points?
Next one will be Leinster on 29th Dec, almost guaranteed they will send a B team as they have 2 rounds of HC then Connacht at Home before it and then Ulster at Home and 2 rounds of HC after it.
Leinster B Team will still be strong but Munster will be well up for that after last year's slip up.
Then in Pro14 the next teams Munster will have at Home will be Kings, Zebre, Cardiff, Connacht.
I'd fancy Munster to win every one of those Home fixtures, and most of them with a bonus point win.
    Play-off qualification looks comfortable now.
Would need to win away against Scarlets and Ospreys though to get a home quarter-final, I don't think we'd catch Glasgow, but long way to go yet.

First try in for Farrell with 4 mins gone.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,805 ✭✭✭budhabob

We're playing a good territory game. Great inside ball from JJ to Conway for a great try.

  • Registered Users Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

    Forward pass?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,832 ✭✭✭shootermacg

Hey! Killer passed the ball and he's lost some weight... I wonder if he's after the FB spot for Ireland?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,805 ✭✭✭budhabob

    Forward pass?
    Looked it didn't it?

What's bigger than a cricket score?

Now that was a lovely try. Great turnover turned into a try.

Looks like he was on the back foot, not much he could do about it

Bad try to concede. But it could be a high score for munster at the end. Munster won't learn much from this match

Ya, in all fairness on second viewing he was off balance from the outset

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,805 ✭✭✭budhabob

Earl's in for the BP try......30 mins gone. Any chance they'd just blow it up at HT?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,805 ✭✭✭budhabob

Botha has been a very smart signing. Cracking player, powerful, great workload.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,805 ✭✭✭budhabob

How did Farrell get through there? He's fecking class!!! Earl's in again.

It's disappointing with the majority or away teams sending very poor sides. Sur even Richard Cockerell seemed to accept a heavy defeat before the match.
