Anyone else listen to Sean Moncrieff in the afternoons? I couldn't take anymore Joe Duffy, the misery was wearing me down. I'm not decided if I like Sean's programme or not, but it's a change from the unrelenting tales of woe.

Jeez...........call me a prude but............today Tom Dunne is interviewing that very "proper" health woman about stuff.
I work in a busy office reception with lots of clients waiting for appointments to be called. On comes an in-depth discussion on how to explain periods from a man's perspective to his daughter. Soft tissue, once a month it sheds, bleeding, putting pads in bags in the bin etc. etc. Meanwhile my male boss is hanging over my shoulder which he checks the diary.

Aaaarrrrrgh is nothing sacred anymore? Does every single last minute detail of life, bodies, sex, personal intimacy, have to be discussed on the national airways??

Sometimes I just cringe. As I said I'm not a prude but its not always comfortable to hear this stuff on radio at work. I know I know there is an off button but you don't always get to it on time.

I agree with you. Probably my only gripe with Moncrieff is some of the content is unnecessary on daytime radio.

Anyone listen to Sean with his sneery remarks about International Men's day, what a tosser then I caught the back end of So you think your an adult about someone worried about going out with a guy because he didn't vote for Michael D and thinks Trump gets a hard time! Heard him the other day when he had Graham Finlay on saying how in the future it might be possible to recreate dead people. Seans reply was of course you wouldn't want to recreate the likes of Hitler or Peter Casey.

Just came on to ask the same.

Changed over yesterday and today, expecting to hear Moncrieff, but instead got the dreariest of round table discussions on 'womens' issues'.

I know gender issues are a touchy subject round here, but that was genuinely dull radio, and meant I was back to the podcasts both days..

They got a group of women of different generations in together to record a semi-structured discussion on various issues. Thought the contrasting perspectives were quite interesting.

Anyway, I suspect it'll be about a half hour per show for the rest of the week.

It definitely shows that the majority of producers and newsroom staff in Newstalk are women.

Endless pushing of the women agenda. Also every single news report features a story on rape. Someone is really obsessed with rape in there.

They have some influence when they are driving reporting of rape cases on RTE, Virgin, Today FM etc as well due to this obsession which obviously has no basis in key stories happening in the public space over recent days/weeks/months.

The round table discussion was quite interesting. Sean must have been scratching his head listening to it because it didn't really tally with what he and many in the media have been pushing. I don't think any of them experienced discrimination in the workplace. None of them agreed with gender quatos. And most had issues with the me too movement. In short they were perfectly normal people. Common scene goes along way. I think this discussion may be a better reflection of women today, rather than than the usual representation in the media.

Women text in implying they are masturbating looking at Jamie Dornan in his latest show, Sean has no problem with that.
