I wonder will he ever be persuaded A real talent in both codes but it looks like hurling is his first love so I would doubt it. On Molloy, didn`t he get into a car after the club semis last year and go and play in a Sigerson final ?
Always_Running wrote: » Why would it be worrying? they took a long time to get going because they were playing the Mayo champions in MacHale Park who came with a game plan that made them difficult to score against. In the end Corofin was good value for their 4 point win and will have learnt far more from today's game than the semi final win.

Hulk Hands wrote: » They have their off days certainly but no team in Connacht is even remotely capable of putting on the exhibition Corofin have put on in their 2 AI final appearances. I'd go as far to say no club team is capable. These late winter days on heavy pitches are always ones they look like they'll be caught out, like Mountbellew this year and Crokes 2 years back. Doesn't suit their style at all. The grass there at McHale Park today looked as if it hadn't been mown since August. Ballintubber can be reasonably happy with their performance though and i'm sure Horan is relieved the two lads will be around for the league. Must be sickening Kevin Walsh badly at this stage

You won't hammer every team every week and there will be times they're almost caught on an odd day (sure they even nearly lost in Galway last year) but as you say no-one in Connacht is in the ha'penny place with them in terms of footballing ability and talent and no-one can compete with their squad I suspect Corofin have gotten to the stage where they're simply doing what they have to do in Connacht now (like in Galway) but they'll always have a small eye on February - they're that dominant now (3 in a row today). I don't think its a coincidence their best performances tend to the come in the AI final as you say Ballintubber certainly got well stuck in in the first half but Corofin equally did not get going at all and were missing the most basic kick and hand passes. When they sorted that out and sprung Ian Burke they were miles superior. When Castlebar got knocked out in the semi I knew any hope of a Mayo club All Ireland was gone. They're the only team who can consistently get under Corofin's skin in the province - styles make match-ups and all that

Corofin are a class act,as good as many inter county teams.Their kickpassing is a joy to behold.Their ability to keep possession whilst probing for opening is so similar in style to Dublin, frustrating to play against. However Ballintubber oft played with only Cillian in the Corofin half. I am as mystified as ever how on earth Molloy is not starting for Galway? He's an exceptional player,I presume he got MOTM? Simply laughable to say Corofin were rubbish in the first half,Ballintubber made a top top team look ordinary.Alan Dillon rolled back the years, very lucky he did not receive an early red.Jason Gibbons had a stormer.Defensively they were very good. Cillian's challenge in the second half deserved a yellow at minimum from my viewpoint.Young Ciaran Gavin has a lot of potential albeit he at times could have released the ball quicker.Kudos to young Jamsie Finnerty,he took his goal very well and has a bright future. Well done Corofin hope you guys finish the job.
manofwisdom wrote: » No doubt MacHale Park is a heavy pitch but on a better playing surface e.g Pearse Stadium or Hyde Park I don't think that game today would have played out much different. First half was more about the way Ballintubber set themselves up but the game they were playing is a high energy one and club teams don't have conditioning to keep that type of game going for 60 mins. Once Corofin scored their 2nd goal today (rather lucky one at that) there was no way back for the home side.
BENDYBINN wrote: » Ok ,so well done ballintubber they managed to stop Corofin scoring in the first half I’m sure they will be delighted with themselves tonight.
