Mick is a decent choice. Solid manager who gets the best out of terrible players.

But I hope Mick can bring success, which is qualification for 2020 and two games in Dublin. That would be great.

He will be working with a much weaker group of players compared to 96-2002. Probably the worst squad in 50 years. But he is well used to managing this level of player and getting them to perform above expectations. As he did with Millwall, Wolves and Ipswich.

Glad Stephen Kenny is staying to build up Dundalk. Ok he might have worked out as Ireland manager but he might not, and some people would turn on him very quickly if results didn't improve above Martin's achievements, and there is a possibility results won't improve. Don't think Stephen Kenny should take on that on now, careerwise.

Of course, he's not going to give up a Premiership top position to go manage a Division C international outfit.

This is the worst Irish squad in my lifetime. It's going to be fierce difficult to attract anyone of quality to the position.

There was no way Kenny was going to be given the job, he's done well with Dundalk but that's only league of Ireland a big step below international management, Im astonished to hear people pumping him up the last few days

Yes, have to agree with you there.

Unfortunately he dirtied his bib badly in the lead up to the Liam Millar game, in my opinion.Showed that by backing Duff, in his programme notes, he didn’t appear to have the full qualifications to manage an International team.

You need more than football knowledge for that job, I would suggest.

Ah no, but it did show the weakness in Kenny when he ‘piled on’ to support Duff to call the GAA dinosaurs and put it in writing,when barring Croker and the Aviva, the GAAs 50th best stadium would be streets ahead of the soccer facilities.

When the organisation would be run for a fraction of the FAI costs and salaries and attendance was huge percentages higher.

Not the kind of wooly thinking and attitude I would expect from a potential International Manager.

But, hey, water under the bridge, I guess, and hopefully he learns from those mistakes.

Mick had us playing great football , great memories of 2002.
Admittedly he'd a great selection of players.
I like mick too , he seems sound.

I'm happy with mick but it does seem like they didn't think too long and hard over it
