Yes so much so that all the laptops with the 20% discount offer are gone. You might pay a little more than other brands, at least you will get support in this country with Dell if something goes wrong.

Ask a regular customer of Dell outlet. I would recommend this to anyone looking for college laptops. They are constantly running 12% plus reductions on items at different times. You have to keep an eye out. You can also upgrade the warranty if required.

cpu in argos one is fine for general use and has an ssd. the cpu is just below current i3 levels and good.

hp one has a full hd screen, not ips tho. and slightly better i3 chip. but no faster ssd drive.

the best deal imo is to buy the hp one and plug in a sata m.2 2280 ssd stick - about 30 from amazon for a 120gb one. it has a free m.2 slot

the argos one is grand if you don't want a full hd screen

I have been looking for a laptop for a while now, waiting for prices to drop so have been looking at various sites. Retailers do drop prices per what I have seen but I am looking at Amazon because of their return policy and customer service is something I trust. There are a good few discounted deals there in all price ranges. Amazon.de by the way can ship into Ireland if you don't mind the potential QWERZ keyboard, their prices are cheaper than the UK one.

not really good value as that price is before VAT. when you add VAT it's £1,246.75

this for 750£ new has a lower cpu but still enough as it's 80 to 90% about the gpu and also a 1060 card but 3gb.
but the 3gb doesn't really have a big effect until you're talking 4k gaming and even then the 1060 can't really do 4k gaming at high fps. the 1060 3gb still has the same amount of graphic compute units as the 6gb one.

the screen is only 1080p so unless you're using a 4k monitor makes no odds and it will run all games well at 1080p high/ ultra settings.

I have laptops with 2gb ram and 32gb drives and they run ok.

But if I was buying new I want at least 4 if not 8gb of ram and a minimum of 64gb disc space and on a full sized laptop a SSD. Though if it has a regular hard drive you can swap it to a SSD yourself.

it's not bad

the chip is enough for basic browsing and ms office. don't entertain any thoughts of running anything beyond candy crush gaming wise.

8gb ram is a plus

add in an m.2 2280 ssd stick if it has a spare slot or swap the 2.5 hd for a 2.5 ssd as the speed benefits of ssd are enormous.

non full hd screen is a downer.

2gb and 32gb driver would be ok with you, and that's your usage. You're not average user.

Give the laptop to any person you know to search and browse for a youtibe video while opening in another tab a news website. Please make sure you're not filtering requests and/or flash/html5 content.

Not trying to sound like an arse, but 4gb in a laptop nowadays is useless, unless you're very patient and you know your way around.

that's not true. 4gb with an ssd will run win 10 for the user whose main uses are web browsing (10 tabs in chrome) , ms office, playing a video player with chrome still open ok. that covers a large % of the use population.

8gb is preferable but if I'm doing the above the ram usage is about 40 to 45% max on my 8gb laptop so 4gb would be fine.

that laptop comes from the near past of 2011

due to it being so old the battery will most likely be knackered as even though refurbished they are an expensive item so probably not replaced.

the displays from that era were absolutely horrible to look at and that's the lowest res one.

it's an ugly brick weighing well over 2 kg

the wifi tech on it will be older and won't get the best speeds from modern routers

other than that I'm sure it's fine. cpu is ok, ram ok, has an ssd.
