New Jersey, 2018:
The DiMeo Crime Family have total control of New Jersey. Organised Crime has never been more powerful. Led by Corallo 'Junior' Soprano, any stand against the tide is brutally silenced. Yet in the wings, the FBI have begun a RICO operation to not just shut the family known more widely as The Sopranos down - but turn them all against each other.
New Jersey is on lockdown as the war on crime and on the streets escalates.
Team Soprano:
Junior Soprano: Starting Don of the family. Only the current Don of the family can place the kill order for the mob each night. Position can be inherited in the following order:
Tony Soprano
Silvio Dante
Paulie Gualtieri
Christopher Moltisanti
Salvatore Bonpensiero
Tony Soprano: Street-boss of the family, however it is widely believed he in fact runs the family behind the scenes.
Tony cannot be harmed by any killing action other than the lynch, converted by the FBI or peeked by the village seer whilst Junior remains as Don of the family. Should Junior be removed as Don, Tony will become prone to all actions, however if he is targeted for conversion he will not turn but die instead at this point.
Tony also works alongside someone else - his psychiatrist - Jennifer Melfi. He shares a backroom with her, where he can share his innermost thoughts.
Silvio Dante: As Capo of the Sopranos crew, Silvio has the inside track on the FBI. He will learn from his informants the Anon Boards identity of any player the FBI fails to convert, if not protected by any means.
Paulie 'Walnuts' Gaultieri: Mafia vigilante. Paulie will get a shot each day at the same time as the village in the ITAs. Paulie is a crackshot and will not miss, unless his target is protected by any means.
Christopher Moltisanti: Fiance of Adriana La Cerva, the village seer and has his own room with her. Will die instantly alongside Adriana should she be killed, unless their lover's bond is broken through betrayal.
Salvatore 'Big Pussy' Bonpensiero: Man on the inside. Wired up and working with the FBI to bring down the Sopranos. Has access to witness protection from the beginning and counts as a parity number for both teams. Can win as either Team Soprano or Team FBI.
Team Psychiatrist:
Jennifer Melfi: Clinical psychiatrist who shares a room with Tony. Has three powers: A protect, a peek and a role block which must all be used before they can regenerate. Her powers each have some limitations:
Her protect power will have no affect against herself or Tony Soprano.
Her role block will have no affect against the FBI member.
A peek the of village seer will return an NRV result.
Melfi can win the game alongside Tony if they outlast the other evil teams, or by herself by gaining parity with all other teams.
Team FBI:
Begins the game with one player , who has access to two anonymous accounts.
One account is assigned as head FBI member. This account cannot be killed by the mob - to do so would bring too much heat.
The second account is assigned the role of FBI sniper.
The head FBI member can attempt to turn a mafia player each night. Should they be successful the turned member of Team Sopranos will enter witness protection where they will count as parity for Team FBI. Should an FBI member attempt to turn a member of team village, they will spend an hour in Witness Protection and then be allowed to leave.
There is a chance that those converted in Witness Protection may die each day. This chance increases with each player turned to team FBI.
The FBI sniper also has 2 shots they can use at any time in an attempt to kill a roled player. Should they be successful in guessing the Correct Role and Boards Anon Name, the player will be killed, and the FBI sniper will retain his shot.
This is an anti-role claim mechanic.Should Team Sopranos fail to put in a valid kill order, the FBI will claim the night kill that night.Team Village:Adriana La Cerva: Village seer. Shares a room with Christopher Moltisanti and can win the game alongside him. Peeks a player each night after the lynch and learns their role. Will die 24hrs after Chris should he be killed unless their lover's bond is broken through betrayal.
Johnny 'Sack' Sacrimoni: From the New York Lupertazzi Crime Family - working alongside the village to eliminate both the Sopranos and FBI forever. John is a bodyvig - (bodyguard/vigilante), who can protect one player for an entire phase (lynch to lynch), or shoot a player during the ITA sessions, which will find its target automatically unless they are protected by any means. The choice to protect means the player is immune to any actions affecting them other than the lynch: kills, peeks, conversion attempts etc - whilst under protection.
Phil Leotardo: From the New York Lupertazzi Crime Family - working alongside the village to eliminate both the Sopranos and FBI forever. Phil is a bodyvig - (bodyguard/vigilante), who can protect one player for an entire phase (lynch to lynch), or shoot a player during the ITA sessions, which will find its target automatically unless they are protected by any means. The choice to protect means the player is immune to any actions affecting them other than the lynch: kills, peeks, conversion attempts etc - whilst under protection.
Patsy and Philly Parisi: The Twins, out for revenge on the Sopranos who have marked Philly 'Spoons' Parisi for death. The Twins are played by one player, with two anonymous accounts. With this comes dual votes, and dual ITAs.
The remaining members of team village are upstanding New Jersey citizens (NRVs).
Rules:NB: Game mods wish to emphasise that the game is totally playable without knowing and understanding any of the details but the detailed mechanics are posted below for clarity.1. Respect the mods: The decisions of the mods are final. Mods will not enter into discussion or arguments on thread about mechanics of the game. There will be a time for review and discussion after the game is complete. The mods have some secrets, but all players have been provided with the information they need to play the game. If you have any questions, please PM Necro, or sKeith and we will respond as soon as possible.
2. Don't cheat: This is a game that relies heavily on the players having integrity. No PMing other players in the game, and no chat about the game outside of this game thread and designated back forum threads. No posting of any PMs from the game mod or referring to the content of them. No screen-shots, quoting from backroom threads or naming of rooms anyone may or may not have are permitted.
3. Witness Protection Rules: Once a successful FBI conversion occurs, for each mafia member currently in Wit Pro, each day the mods will roll an 8 sided dice (d8) to determine their fate.
x dice are rolled at 10pm each night after the lynch for each unprotected mafia in wit pro; where x is the number of mafia in wit pro. On a 1 or max(8), the mafia member in question will die.4. In Thread Attack Sessions: Starting on Monday, there will be a daily In Thread Attack Session for 1 hour between 1pm and 2pm. All eligible players will be able to attempt to shoot another player during this period by typing in Bold like below:
Shoot: Fred WW Players will NOT be told if their shot is unsuccessful, only accurate shots/kills will be announced on thread. Please allow at least ten minutes for the mods to process the shots as they arrive. ITA posts will be dealt with in order of posting.
The chance of a successful hit in the ITAs will be calculated as per the following formula:
( max [ 1 - ( ( φ x 100) - α + ( γ / 3) / ( φ x 100 ) ) , 0.05 ] ) x 100% / 2^θ
where
φ = Game day
α = shooters post count
γ = targets post count
θ = number of ITA hits in the game.
The function max [ x , y ] results in the greater value, be it x or y. eg. max [ 2 , 5 ] = 5 or max [ 21 , 1.58 ] = 21
The following will not have any attempted ITAs processed: Mafia members excluding Paulie, FBI members and anyone currently placed in witness protection.
5. Game schedule and voting rules: The game begins as soon as the mods say go, with lynch form opened immediately. There will be a lynch on Sunday evening at 9pm and each subsequent night. Mafia kills and FBI conversion attempts are in the morning at 10am. The lynch form will be opened following the Mafia Kill and players can vote until 08:59:59PM. You can change your vote as many times as you like, but only your last vote will count. Do not share your vote form password with anyone else. All votes for the lynch have to be made by yourself.
There will be no missed votes in this game. Failure to enter a valid vote by the deadline will result in a penalty vote against yourself in that lynch. This will increase incrementally as follows:
1 missed vote = 1 self vote
2 missed votes = 2 self votes
3 missed votes = 4 self votes
4 missed votes = 8 self votes
etc.
6. Lynch rules: The votes will be published as soon as possible following the lynch in the order they were cast, with the player's role revealed upon death. There will always be the option of voting for No Lynch.
In the event of a tie: All tied players will be up for lynch with a new vote immediately following and to close at 10pm. This vote will be in public on thread in the format VOTE XXXX.
The tied players will lose the right to vote at this juncture. In the event of a second tie whoever was voted for first in the tiebreaker round will be lynched.
Please Note: All votes in the tied vote scenario are final - no redaction or withdrawal of votes will be allowed.
7. Are you dead? People are free to post in the thread until the lynch and mafia kills are announced. You are not dead until a post in the game thread announces it. Once you are dead, please don't post in the game thread again. Dead players are also asked to NOT THANK POSTS IN THE GAME THREAD AFTER DEATH. You will be granted access to the deadroom where you can discuss the game.
8. Policy on Abuse: Boards has a no-abuse rule in place that is in effect in this forum as well. By all means, call people on dodgy behaviour, point out if they are being silly or behaving strangely, be aggressive in your approach; but DO NOT abuse another player. If you feel another player has stepped over a line, the first step is to ask them to stop; if they do not, please PM a forum mod (Sullivlo/Pter) or use the report button on the post in question. Forum mods will investigate and action any issues at an appropriate time, keeping the game mods informed of any actions as needed.
9. Got a Question?: This is an entirely open game, so as such ALL questions be it via PM or asked in the backrooms by the various parties will be answered in a seperate thread in the WW Forum. Players are advised to ask questions through the normal channels (PM, backrooms) and an answer will be posted on thread. Please do not post in the Answers Thread, you may unwittingly make yourself a target!
10. Posts from Your Own Account: If you post from your own personal Boards account on the game thread, please requote the post with your anon account.
