The county final is down for next weekend and Munster club the week after so if there is a draw in this weekend's semi-final between Courty and the Nire, we will have no representative in Munster again despite being our teams being out of both intercounty championships in June! I know people will say Abbeyside got to the hurling final which is what delayed it but there were loads of weekends without games that would have had this championship finished weeks ago.

I'd normally defend them re scheduling to some degree as the inter county season is so unpredictable. But they had from mid June to play these games off. And we were one of few counties that actually played a couple of rounds of club games in April after the bad weather delayed the close of the league. This is indefensible.

They beat Clare up in Ennis in the first round but lost out easily to eventual All Ireland champions Tipperary in the Munster semi final.

I'm sure if you ever talked to anyone from ferrybank they would have nowt but praise for doxer. Instead you come on here with that ****e. Your becoming a broken record at this stage. Get Harris was originally ballyduff lower then transfered to Portlaw then transfered to mount Sion and then back to ballyduff lower. Has been involved with ballyduff for a good few years now and was assistant manager last year out there I think.

They had a great win in the first round in Ennis. They had the upper hand in the first half against Tipperary in Thurles, but had a crazy game plan based entirely on getting the ball into Stephen Bennett at full forward. Players in good positions all over the place passed up straightforward scoring chances with the preoccupation with getting the ball into Bennett, which was easy to defend against. Waterford should have had a good lead at half time with the possession they had, but their heads went down instead and they were blown away after half time. I have to say that I thought after the game that whoever was in charge hadn't a clue. That was a seriously talented team which had a similar experience at under 21 level three years later when gross incompetence on the sideline cost them their first round game in Ennis and a probable All-Ireland title. Ger Harris was centre back, and one of the best players, in the Waterford minor team that got to the All-Ireland final in 1992. He had a couple of years with the seniors, and lined out for them at centre forward against Limerick in the senior championship in 1994. However his lack of pace told against him. I'm not aware of him having any coaching experience, but he is a good lad with a total commitment to Waterford hurling.

He won't be coming up game plans and I'm sure his brief is limited to the odd drill and helping our behind the scenes. Being a top coach this will suit him. Doxer has given a large chunk of his life to ferrybank. Everyone over there have nowt but respect for him. By the end of the year I'm pretty sure the Waterford players will have the same respect. A top man.
