Ok, i'm a bloke of 38 and i'm contemplating asking out a 25 yr old woman..so thats a 13 year age gap.

Ive been called a dirty bastard, cradle snatcher etc...am i?

But surely if a woman (or indeed man) is 25 they're old & mature enough to date whatever age partner they want??

I want feedback on this please...whats your age gap limit? have you ever been out with someone thats has been way older than you.. or way younger than you?

only thing is that you may be both in different stages of life so you need to figure out exactly what you want from a relationship

25 seems reasonable yeah. You'd wonder what you have in common/life stages and you probably will keep getting those jokey comments! But it's your own business.
If she was younger or there was some power dynamic you might be concerned

I would imagine he told his friends he thought about asking her out and that was the result.

Had that exact age gap and at nigh on the same age too. No problems because of it. Sure we broke up a few years on, but the age diff had nothing to do with it.

It depends on the age of the 2 people involved and what ye both want/expect from it. I've had long term relationships with women 7/8 years younger than me and there was no issue.

Don't mind what your mates think either.. they're probably jealous of you

Go for it, don't pay too much attention to what other people think. For me I'm 37 and still nowhere near ready for kids/marriage and I reckon there's a few 25 year olds out there that are more mature than me

Plenty of blokes will call you a cradle snatcher but the same blokes at 38 would gladly do the same if some younger woman was into them.

Half + 7 = 28.5

One-third + 10 = 24

Nah I think I'd stick with option 1.. I couldn't handle the 3 nights out at the weekend anymore!

Can you see her being comfortable on a night out with your peer group bearing in mind you're nearly 40 ?

Would you be ok with socialising with a group of her pals in their 20s ?

If the answers are yes , go for it.

28.5 -7 is 21.5 so you are 43

24 -10 1s 14 so you are 42

TBH, and I know this probably won't go down well, but even the power dynamic thing has always bothered me. If I fall for a woman in a position authority over me and she happens to fall for me too (as opposed to #metoo

) there should be no reason why, as consenting adults, we can't bamswaggle eachothers' flumpuses.

It seems to me that this is one of those societal rules which in place to protect those without self-confidence who might feel pressurised even when there's no pressure intended - but there should be a get-out clause for those of us who are self-confident to be able to say "I'm perfectly capable of looking after myself, my lecturer / manager / supervisor / arresting Garda / methadone provider / TSA agent / etc is not intimidating me, and I actually want this".

It's a little ridiculous that because these things end up being unhealthy or abusive in some cases, all of society should just rule out potential romance with people who could easily be their soul mate, if one believes in those things, because they happen to have a relationship involving authority in some way.

If you and this person are right for each other, then there is no reason not to proceed.

Friend of mine has a 15 year difference to her husband and they clicked when they met so it worked, but ....... normally* a 38 year old and 25 year old would likely be in very different places in their lives. Focus, interests, expectations, energy etc......

*there is no scientific fact that any one individual is normal.

I was asked something similar by a mate of mine over the weekend and I said "I've no problem being old and dirty as long as she's young and willing"

Really got to consider what the pair of ye will be after with each other and how it'd work out between ye. It's got nothing to do with anyone else really.
