Serena's meltdown

Being an admirer of what she has done on court and proving that mothers can be excellent athletes after giving birth, a different side of Serena Williams may have been exposed in her outburst at the US Open yesterday.

But here's the deal after watching a number of reports of the incident, I am amazed by the amount of people rushing to support her. Experts in tennis validated the sanctions imposed by the umpire; yet still she publicly called him a liar and a cheat, and said that she was "here fighting for womens rights" and the umpire sanctioned her because she was a woman. She said if a man was on court, it would not have happened. So the umpire, according to Serena, was a sexist, liar, and cheat. And she said all of this on the court in front of a massive crowd and on live TV.

Speaking to the media after the event, she said it was "sexist" of the umpire to take a game away from her. "But I'm going to continue to fight for women.", she said. Some of her supporters have accused the umpire of being racist and that he was on a misogynistic power trip. Get a grip, it was a tennis game; not a human rights march.

You can go online to see her outbursts yesterday, but I find it mind boggling that so much these days is attributed to sexism/racism/whateverism when things don't go their way.

Meanwhile, Naomi Osaka, who became the first Japanese player to win a major singles final, was left in tears as a result of the incident.

That's the thing with such bullies. They typically exploit a platform, in this case sexism to justify their bullying. This was nothing more than a narcissistic rage from an egotistical, self absorbed diva athlete who was getting her arse forehanded to her by the better player and who was having her 'achievement unlocked' moment denied from her and thus the toys came out of the pram.

And the rub is that you'd be deemed a monster for having a go at such an upstanding individual, you'd be deemed to be attacking these worthy, legitimate causes. Many have been duped into thinking she is taking a stand here, the digital pitchforks of the twitter mob would be ready and waiting if you had the temerity to call this as it is. The WTA statement enables Williams' manipulative framing of her behavior completely.

Williams' problem is that we see this behavior from her on a constant basis, it's certainly not a one off, always when she is losing a match and we see through the facade completely and recognize that she is not some social justice warrior at all, we see her for who she really is which is an asshole who is playing victim to deflect from her own horrible behavior and attitude.

US Open 2018: Serena Williams' claims of sexism backed by WTA

Serena Williams' claims of sexism in the US Open final have been backed by the governing body of women's tennis.

WTA chief executive Steve Simon said the umpire showed Williams a different level of tolerance of Saturday's outbursts than if she had been a man.

She got a code violation for coaching, a penalty point for racquet abuse and a game penalty for calling the umpire a "thief" in the loss to Naomi Osaka.

Pretty interesting to get fined $17,000, have your coach admit to breaking the rules, be a complete and utter cúnt to the umpire, ruin your opponent's big victory, use the sexism card, and get defended for it by the female organisation.

This is one of the easier stories of the year to gauge just how retarded someone is.

I don’t know enough about tennis to know whether the sanctions against Williams were fair. But even if they weren’t, isn’t part of being a sportsperson accepting that sometimes decisions go against you? I’m sure every sportsperson can point to decisions that they thought were unfair but they just had to get on with it. Serena Williams is an ego. She loooves herself. And she ruined Ms. Osaka’s big moment. So sad to see that girl in tears.

I absolutely love this nonsense now that tennis is some small niche sport as way to attack people for caring. As if no one would have ever known only it's a woman behaving badly or something.

Everyone and their dog knows who she is. She's a complete and utter piece of sh for doing what she did. You have to have an IQ of 70 to not see it, or to question why people think it.

I've been watching tennis my whole life. Her behaviour on court was absurd. Nonsensical. Her claims of sexism are completely false. She had two court warnings for the coaching (the coach admitted it), smashing a racket(I've never seen a male or female player not get a warning for that).

So she hadn't actually been deducted points at this stage. Then to start a verbal tirade against the umpire (which she has history of doing). Been deducted the point, should have been the cope on to try and concentrate on the next point. She didn't.

Tennis players and coaches will tell you no matter the situation get the head down and play the next point likes it's your first.

The fact the wta have rowed in behind her is baffling. Sets a bad precedent.

She was being beaten by the better player on the day. It happens.

Her talking about motherhood and the media coverage of it has been obnoxious.The way her and the American media have been going on about it you'd think she was the only woman to ever have a child and you'd think she was a proper working mother with real life problems to deal with.

Her experience of motherhood is miles away from the reality most mothers face yet nobody in mainstream media dares point this out.

This match wasn't on late, it started at 9:30 and was finshed by about 11 so it wouldn't have been that difficult to stay up and watch it.

Tennis is one of the world's biggest sports and she's one of the world biggest sports stars so it's hardly surpriseing people were taking about it particularly when they could watch highlights of what happpened on the internet.

I think Serena Williams was wrong and I roll my eyes when celebrities start going on about motherhood, fighting for women and so on.

But she is definitely not an utter piece of sh for having a bit of a meltdown and an argument with an umpire. There are other tennis stars who did worse, some footballers or Vettel highly entertaining message to Charlie Whiting also come to mind.

In fact what you call her is a lot worse than anything Serena Williams said, so what are you then if she is a piece of sh...

Ya McEnroe was expected to do it. It was pure entertainment. He knew that. The crowd knew that and the official expected it also. Certainly in his later years that I saw him play, that was the case.
It's not comparable in any way to what Williams has done. She took it too far when on court and continued with it off the court. Career ending stuff really.

My bad, she got the point deducted after smashing her racket. Still doesn't change , that her behavior and point and game deducted was self inflicted.
