I’m a little bit sad for Westport if Horan leaves so quickly as they look to have some big talents coming through, but it’s not my local club so not too sad. Good luck to whoever gets it, I’ve respect for any manager willing to tolerate that county board.

Would be great to have him back on co commentary duty too, especially if it means hearing less of Dessie bloody Dolan. McStay & Daragh Moloney did commentary of that utterly mad AI semifinal between Dublin & Kerry back in 2013 & they were brilliant. I thought the pair of them were going to have a heart attack live on air. It was deadly. (No pun intended.)

The club isn't going to get going really until Mayo are knocked out so he can join up full time then again, and do bits and pieces during the year All hypothetically of course, all depends on his personal circumstances, but I wouldn't fully discount him staying on in some form (provided he gets the Mayo job)
