O Mahony's just inside the English Market by the Fishwife entrance on Grand Parade.
Really good pork that actually has flavour and colour.
He does some really interesting cuts and all the meat is top quality. Family run business who also supply lots of restaurants around town.

I have no connection other than being a customer.

Bresnan's in the English market have very good quality meat but I can't abide that man, his wiley ways and his lack of clear pricing.

O Flynn's on Marlborough Street are also excellent, have diverse cuts and make very good sausages.

I agree on all three, (except I like Michael. He is old-school though, has the old ways of pricing/haggling).
O'Mahonys, Bresnan's and O'Flynn's are the best butchers in the city. Bresnan's in Douglas isn't the same guy as the market, it's a cousin in the same extended family. Also an excellent butcher. He is the only one of that group who does chicken though as far as I know. The others are mainly local lamb, beef, pork from their own local family farms. If you're looking for low food miles, can't go wrong there.

For me, they have the best coffee in town. No question.

And a nice place, with no bull****. Friendly staff.

The opposite of some independent cafes in Cork city.

Ate in Koto, Carey's Lane, a couple of times now. Have to say they have, hands down, the best curries in the city center. Sticky rice which is a plus too.

Ate in spitjack at the weekend. Beautiful inside, lovely atmosphere and decor

Thought it was overpriced tbh and they messed up two orders( group of 8)
Would go back for lunch I think but not dinner of a Saturday evening if that makes sense.

Is it the same owner as the previous incarnation Aroi? They're sticky rice was great.

i am the v same - would go there for lunch - or a quick bite if wanted something fast and casual - nothing more..

Am I looking at the wrong place? They only have one curry on the menu... chicken panko thai item. Is this not another noodle bar / streetfood place...

They have green, red and yellow curry underneath that and you can choose your meat/ main veg/fish/tofu

Thali on pope's Quay is quite good. It's Nepalese. Delicious dumplings. I've only tried their lamb and potato curry, but it was very nice.

passed Iyers tonight and it was full and there was a queue of people trying to get in - must be good - though i believe that its a v specific type of indian cuisine

Iyers is good, great dhosa. He has catered things I have been at too, really impressed. But it's so tiny and effectively a take away really. Not someplace you can go with a big bunch of friends for a birthday or something.

Unless you book it on a Tuesday or Wednesdays night for a private, fixed menu!
That's some experience.

It's not really a place if you are looking for what most people consider a "curry", though.

If anyone fancies pizza tonight, there is 50% off all food (not just pizza) in La Tana on Barrack Street, today only. Had it myself and was not very impressed but I know that some people on here rate it highly!

Does papa rich exist outside Galway? They've loads of outlets in the city.

Decent enough Asian food for the €10 mark. Maybe Cork is already saturated with Asian street food.
