It's the N2 from Ardee to Collon. Quite a few bad accidents on that stretch

that's a quite typical attitude of someone who doesn't understand that truckers cannot afford to do dozens or hundreds of km at less than optimum speed. A bit of patience and understanding is required, such a situation would delay a faster vehicle by only a minute or so.

If you're on LinkedIn, and you have a decent network there, you might be able to find someone senior there. I have a Commercial Director and a Logistics Manager for GSLS as 2nd connections in my network. See who you can connect to - definitely worth making sure this gets serious attention.

Yes it is annoying, especially if the slower truck refuses to drop just one or two Kmh to facilitate the overtaking driver, that's all it would need to change a 2Km overtake into a 500m overtake. The slower vehicle would only lose a few seconds (probably less than 10) in the overall journey time.

It's not much to ask.

If half a minute is so vital to a trucker, how come they're all going at slightly different speeds resulting in some having to/wanting to overtake others?
Why aren't they all at the maximum allowable?
And I'm not talking about clapped out Turkish trucks going up a 7% incline.

It is The Netherlands.
We don't do gradient roads

If the time in the clip is right, it was at 06:12 and believe it or not, but that is practically rush hour already.

Cam car is at 1 point doing 85 km\h on a 100 km\h (at least, could be 120) road.
Lets just have 30 or 40 cars drop 20 km\h for a few minutes to accommodate Mr Truck.

Because they can't. It depends on the load and the gradient. It's not like driving a massively overpowered car which can do 160km/h+ even though it has no need to do more than 120. There is often no reserve of power and don't forget that speed limiters might vary in their settings too.

In any case, you wouldn't mind the trucker losing half a minute but wouldn't want to lose it yourself?

My own gripe with trucks is when you see one driving behind the other with only inches of space on a one lane road.

Personally I think they should leave possibly two car lengths space and at least you will have a better chance of overtaking them.

I.e due to no space it is usually difficult to overtake two trucks unless its a very good road.

With what I'm saying you could overtake one, and sit in the middle of the convey until the next gap in traffic allows you to overtake the leading truck then.

yeah I thought this was an actual rule... along the lines of "if you are not intending on passing the vehicle in front, then you have to leave enough space between you and it so that someone else can over take you" ...and then overtake that vehicle in front and be off about their business.
I used to hate the old N4 heading west and someone would be behind a truck... then someone else rolls up behind them - you come along now you have a truck plus two cars in front... no gap between them to pop into, so you needed a run long enough to take them all and of course that just doesn't happen on our roads so ye get stuck, and then there's a whole train all caught behind one slower vehicle (not always a truck of course, plenty of 70km/h drivers in 100km/h zones).

Then after being fed up with cars and traffic, on my motorbike I quickly learned that getting stressed about passing the cars/trucks train was a waste of time because 5mins up the road was the same pattern repeated again so all ye ended up doing was passing the first train and then getting caught at the back of the next one.
