Traumatising experience

Was browsing randomly on liveleak and came across a video called
"Cameroon soldiers execute women and children"

Mod: Title above is exactly what it says on the tin. Read at your discretion:

Ok I thought, I think many of them are staged and I've been numbed already with all the death and suffering in the news. The video is short but you can see 2 scum with ak's leading two women away to be shot. One woman is holding her little girl by the hand while the other one has her maybe 2 year old boy strapped on her back. The man hits her in the face while leading her. Once at the place they make them kneel down and one of them puts the little girls shirt over her head while the other woman is lying down on her side. Then the subhumans unleash a volley of bullets at the children and the women and you can see the blood coming out after about 10 seconds. I think I've been desensitised already by all the reports and isis beheadings but I've never felt my heart sink so deep. I was absolutely enraged and would tear apart the scum who did this.
As the song goes and I tell to myself, what a wonderful world.

I think I've been traumatised by this and I have the images of the little boy stuck in my head and can't get them out. I hope this passes in a few days but I know that I hate this world.

This obviously isn't true. There's a concept you should be aware of, called 'vicarious trauma'. Google that and learn something new.

News reporters and the video editors handling the raw video news feeds suffer the effects and require trauma counselling at times. The effect can also be cumulative - sounds obvious I know, but the more frequently you watch, the worse it gets...

It happens. The world is full of savagery and violence the likes of which is beyond the dreams, yea even the ken, of the most twisted horror writers. There's a civil war going on over there, and as is the way with such matters it's a pretty long way from "civil". With any luck the UN might decide to get involved and improve things.
