No they'll wait until Waterford are finished and then leave the club that looked after them high and dry and their teammates who have trained all year without them to play their biggest matches of the year without their star players. Tom Devine should be the example. He announced he was taking time out to travel and did so when suited him and not until inter county was over. What about the club players who also have to play the same number of games in a short period after being idle for so long. The idea of putting aside April to play club games is not ideal but at least club players know when they will play. My response was to the original post who claimed playing club games in April was in some way responsible for Waterford's poor championship.

It's going to take time and it may not be til 2020 when we adapt to his style. He still has to take the job though and he might not be interested It's going to be different, he might not be as edgy and cool as Derek McGrath

But he would be an impressive appointment if we can get him, proven winner with cuala, previous intercounty experience as selector with Galway. Outside man with no accusations of favouritism or local gaa politics. We could do with a good news story and I'm hoping Kenny is appointed soon and we can begin building for next year

Most teams can produce good defenders, but having forwards who can rack up scores in Croke Park battles is the key ingredient. Can talk about systems this and system that it’s about been able to score when it counts on a All Ireland final day with a top class defender on you, under severe pressure. How many of the current Waterford forwards would start on the Galway front 6 for example?

And to be honest I think as a 6 the Galway forward unit are terribly over rated, if you took Canning off it they would be an average at best bunch, despite what some would have you believe Galway's effectiveness basically comes down to Cannnings influence.

Actually been a much bigger influence this year and they lost the final. Problem is Conor Cooney lost form and confidence, Conor Whelan wasn't really being used like he should have, Cathal Mannion was great up until the final but had no influence on the final, Joseph Cooney was the opposite, quiet all year but actually had a good final. Same forwards that shot the lights out last year suddenly started hitting wides this year.
