He was brought in to provide instant success like he did everywhere else (ref.signing Ibrahimovic). Jose is/was the 'hired gun' if you will. That didn't really arrive, rather, an improvement in results to get into the top 4 and a couple of secondary targets. Jose was hired to win the title. It looks unlikely that he is going to get there so now the board are making the call that his methods (replace Martial with William) aren't worth punting even more money on. I'd be shocked if he's still manager this time next year.

I'm more optimistic than most United fans I've spoken to, but calling that side brilliant is disingenuous and I feel like most people who will push that idea are people that want Jose out and can say "But we have a brilliant squad!". It just isn't true.

Season 3: wants to buy an experienced CB, for big money. Why not buy the experienced defender in season 2? instead of buying more potential and complain about not having experience....

Season 1: Bought Bailly for potential Season 2: Bought Lindelof for potential Season 3: wants to buy an experienced CB Why didn't ye buy the experienced CB one of the other seasons instead? Instead of waiting til after ye had made these big transfers?

Maybe brilliant is the wrong word to describe a team that finished on 81 points last season  As a Liverpool fan I get a chuckle when you guys fail. I am sure most of you feel vice versa. But come on, talking down your side is like talking down the City side. Yes of course they had a great league season (as did ye by the way) but they didnt really add to their team. Jose is talking down expectations becuase he didnt get a big name signing. Months of Griezman, Neymar, Mbappe, Bale and Ronaldo has resulted in no marquee signing. That sucks yes but ye still have quality in that side. Ye still have a front 3/4 (if you include Pogba) that can get goals and win games. Ye still have a solid defence and ye still have a midfield that can hold the ball up. Not to even mention unlike Chelsea and Liverpool ye didnt ahve to spend big for a (they will hope) a world class goalkeeper. This talk isnt to put the boot into Jose. This talk is to say "what the f**k is all teh moaning about?". Let Jose moan if he wants. He always deflects attention from his team for one reason or another. Thats his thing. But as fans there is no way ye should be anything less than optimistic.

Focused on one player who it wasn’t sure wanted to sign with a club that was never going to sell. And now hours before the close of the transfer window has decided to hit after another target? I am no fan of his but I don’t think Woodward or the owners are that thick that they would have all their eggs in one basket right up until deadline....
