He is not a natural(ly good) kicker of the ball in terms of the high standards required of a modern keeper imo. Brilliant keeper all the same. In related news, Schlingerman or whatever he is called has packed in soccer and is back playing GAA.

I've always rated Matthew Flanagan highly,he'd be my first choice to be given an opportunity at grasping the reins. Now we can throw Schlingerman into the mix.

As a selector, well, I would imagine that he will be easily replaced there. Not sure about McEntee to be honest, seems to be mixed reports. Buckley is a huge loss in my opinion. I'm not sure whether he ever got the credit or thanks he deserves from the Mayo people for everything that he did for the team. Possibly down to him being a Kerryman, possibly down to him having a pretty much invisible profile (when was the last time, if ever, you heard him talking to the media?). Either way, without him, I don't believe that we would have got to where we did and achieved what we did without him. So, if you ever see or read this, thanks a million for everything Donie - you will be missed!

From what i hear this was going to be Burkes last year anyway. maybe just maybe this is just a natural smooth transition, lets enjoy the novelty factor in that

Id be curious to understand the logic of a full clear out and why the manager remains in place, are they equating the lack of a Connacht title and elimination this year with the backroom staff and not at the door of the manager? To me its odd that they go and he remains and after the chairmans comments about a "Clear out" was this driven from board level and not an agreement by the staff themselves. I could be wide of the mark though.
