Although it would be fantastic to have a D92 also, see where they're all at after the fall of the wall (spolier!). But that's years away from development, so I guess it all depends on the ratings.

It rated above average for the channel, with 15.7% of the audience share but was up against Germany's The Voice, which got 16%. It was very disappointing for RTL because they'd marketed the series hugely, but it's still profitable especially when it's selling so well outside of Germany. I hope the budget doesn't suffer too badly though. Period tv is very expensive to do well and in many ways, recent history shows are even harder to get right and find suitable props for.
Now to be known as Deutschland 86, the new episodes will pick up three years after Season 1 with Jonas Nay’s East German Agent Martin Rauch on the frontlines of the battle between the Ronald Reagan-led West and the Soviet Empire. With proxy states in Africa as the backdrop in what we now know were the final years of the Cold War, the Stasi agent ends up in the Johannesburg of the Apartheid-ruled South Africa, the Tripoli of Col. Gadhafi’s Libya, Paris, and both Berlins.
